Re: Time to roll TSP over...but where?

Oops, I almost forgot. One advantage a Roth does have is that it is not mandatory to begin withdrawals at age 70 1/2 like with a regular IRA. This means if you don't need the money and want to leave it for your children, the Roth is the way to go.

Re: Time to roll TSP over...but where?

The main advantage to a Roth is that you can take money out after you turn 59 1/2 without paying taxes or penalties. You are 61 now, so you don't have the advantage of pumping money into it earlier in life in order to avoid paying taxes on it later. Stick with the regular IRA and just pay taxes as y...

Re: TSP Forcast for 5 Oct

It's making another run at 2000.....is there a Black Knight guarding the bridge or is it Gandalf? "but your arm's off....no it isn't, it's just a flesh wound" I never thought when I was a kid that looking at an SP500 intraday chart would get my adrenaline going . Sheesh. "Fun" i...

Re: TSP Forcast for 5 Oct

No one's tsp account is more important than our own. That goes for all of us... leaders or followers. If all you are doing is sharing what moves you make with your own account, there shouldn't be any extra pressure. There are no guns to heads and you aren't a for pay advisor (that I know of at leas...

It's not easy being a leader. People can make or lose a lot on your decisions. Pretty stressful, if one has a conscience that is. Some don't really care.Good luck! :)

Re: What-to-do-Voo-Doo for week of 27 Jul

One thing is certain, you post more when you are doing well (just like most others), so keep up the great returns! I, much like everybody else, absolutely love that someone is sharing their strategy with us here on TSPCenter. Especially someone that seems to be doing well this year. I appreciate it ...

Re: I am looking for a chartist.

I track options expiration every month. If there were any real pattern, I'd use it. There have been 4 options expiration's this year and the first 3 were up while the last one was down. Last year 8 were up and 3 were down with 1 flat (for the S fund). The largest drop last year for the S fund was 0....

Re: Do Fundamentals and Risk Matter?

Quote from last paragraph of TSPSmarts post: Buy-backs can also give a superficial boost to EPS: the number of shares falls more than the decline in profits from higher interest costs. If managers are paid on the basis of EPS targets—as up to half of American bosses are—they have a temptation to go...
