Re: Future of 401k program
I believe the story was on a Microsoft feed. Their position was by eliminating the tax deferred program money invested in a retirement account would pay annual taxes and those taxes could be used to support the Social Secuity Program.

Re: Leave TSP for High Yield Dividend Growth ETFs
Have you looked at ETF QYLD? Pays a monthly dividend and has an annual dividend of 12%. I am using it in a 401k program outside of TSP.

Re: Retirement Income Modeler
Your retirement account does not have to go to zero-- it is not a passbook savings account. It can be an active brokerage account if you want. And even with that you could just buy the etf QYLD and take a monthly dividend while your account balance stays fairly level. and even with the mrd you can m...

Re: TSP loan or Margin Loan
Don't do either one. I remember the time I was out on a hundred thousand dollar margin in Ford Motor Co. and the stock went down. Fortunately it recovered and I made a small profit and vowed to never go out on margin again, which I have not. Try dividing your brokerage account into three equal amoun...

Re: Advice Request -transfer 401k from a private company
You can also open a rollover brokerage account and trade stocks. As I have said in the past, TSP is a poor limited IFT program whose only incentive is the deferred Agency match pay. My wife has a 401k with Wells Fargo and I can IFT it every day. We also have brokerage IRA/ROTH accounts we buy and se...

Re: How many of the leader boards
searight have you ever calculated how much money you did not make following your investment program? Take a look at how much McLovin has made, and when was his last IFT. You can do better. I want you to be a millionaire.

Re: Advice Request -transfer 401k from a private company
Go with a brokerage company. One ETF to consider is HIPS. 11% annualized dividend.
The important thing is to make the account grow with prudent research and nimble moves. It is not a passbook savings account, it is a brokerage account. Work it.

Re: Traditional TSP Rollover to Traditional IRA
alphaalpha call TSP to get the right procedure. That will avoid unnecessary capital gains taxes and withdrawal penalties.
