Re: Developing A New Strategy: SC Ratio
Either way, it seems it's generally a good time to be holding S if you are not near retirement (20 years left for me) and as soon as the month rolls over I'll be moving in that direction.

Developing A New Strategy: SC Ratio
I've been watching the S share price to C share price ratio as it has had huge swings over the past two years, and I think it can be used as a viable trading strategy for folks who are generally holding long term. The S share price is at it lowest compared to the C in years (although nothing beats t...

Re: Super bubble???
or cryptocurrencies - the favorite of savvy millennials Millennials have solved the retirement crisis Fair enough, and I’m sure it’s bound to happen, but I’m not seeing any indications of the cryptocurrency pop yet. I think this whole drop is just about the Fed’s balance sheet. Also, as a millennia...

Re: Super bubble???
It has felt like a massive bubble for a long time (focus on stock growth over actual profitability), but the pandemic dip didn’t pop it, the Ukraine dip didn’t pop it, and I kind of doubt the coming inflation/fed rate raise dip is going to pop it. The problem is a historically huge portion of the po...

Re: Has anybody heard of this bill?
I agree with Anne that it’s not going to affect govvies (and not likely to induce folks to save, mostly likely to help folks who are already saving in 401Ks). The two factors of interest might be more catch-up contributions and a little bit later mandatory withdrawals (although I think TSP would hav...

Re: Just Like clockwork...
Anyone getting the urge to jump back in? I'm leaning towards a buy and hold strategy now, so I stop checking the markets every hour! I resisted the urge to buy back in in March 2020, even when the market started going back up (which happened fast) because it seemed there was no way the market could...

"Word on the street" is if SPY closes below 440 today or friday, it's all over at least for the short term. Close above 450, that's green light for next week at least. What say you, Wing? Almost at lower bound. We'll see if it holds. S is down even harder. I wonder if we'll see a lot of f...

Re: G Fund
Just a little tip though--Moving to the G fund after a big downturn essentially "locks in" a loss, because you are not riding with the market funds when they go back up. So if you are jumping to a low risk fund (like G), you also won't make your money back. You've sold your shares and cash...

Re: Getting in for 1 Day
Any takers today? Probably running out of chances for a one day windfall. Yeah, I got in for Tuesday only. It halved my losses from the initial fall in February, so that was nice. Got my account from $175K back up to $185K (with just 10K more to go until I'm made whole again). It was definitely a g...

Re: If your out, when to get back in is the question
Not really--the market has been majorly inflated compared to the actual value of companies. If you are looking for a discount, and not just to catch a bounce, let the market go down more before jumping back in.Scarfinger wrote: I would be getting a 15% to 20% discount on the market.

Re: I'm Jumping In...Who's with me?
I am sitting here debating it as the clock ticks down. I think after today's dive we will get a small rally tomorrow, a downtrend again Friday, and a big boost for the fed meeting on Monday/Tuesday but then you'll need to get out again. My worry is I am hearing about a big announcement expected out ...

Re: Advice please
...The market has had extreme ups and downs, not sure if I should accept losses and move to G today or wait one more day in case the market bounces up tomorrow or later this week... I think we are not done dropping for the week, but given the limited IFTs (and the fact that jumping out locks in los...

Re: Refinance
This is going to sound a bit crazy, but when we refinanced (in DC) 4 years ago, the best rate by far we could find was through Costco. They have a special deal with NBKC bank and it beat everyone else by almost a half a percent. We've moved to Texas since, but still own our house in DC. We had a gre...

file a grievance, as a whistle-blower you have rights against retribution. If you believe there was retribution on a claim you made provide copies of your appraisals prior to and after you reported your direct supervisor. you definitely have a claim here, ask to be relocated to an area outside of y...

Re: White House Retirement Benefits Proposals
I appreciate the helpful info about the proposal, but the discussion is devolving into Anything Goes territory. (I mostly note this because I typed a different response with some views that I recognize are likely colored by my politics, and then checked what forum this was and deleted it--trying to ...
