Re: Helping My New Army Granddaughter
RE: Think beyond TSP. It is a lousy program that greatly restricts the ability to make money by restricting moves to only 2 per month.... Certainly YES to personal IRA and such. My first goal is to get her use to saving and starting with TSP seems the easiest way to do that with an 18 YO that has n...

Re: Helping My New Army Granddaughter
So let's look at your request for information for your grand daughter a little differently, a bit beyond the TSP Program. Imagine this is a video played in reverse putting the pieces of pie back into the pie dish until we have a complete pie. Still with me? Piece of pie number 1 is the "do not...

Re: Helping My New Army Granddaughter
A followup question comes to mind.
Even if she elects to use a traditional IRA, will her matching contributions be deposited in a separate account?

Helping My New Army Granddaughter
Hello All! My oldest granddaughter has completed basic and just arrived to her AIT training at Fort Huachuca AZ. She was enlisted a few weeks out of high school. Needless to say, I'm super proud of her! She has asked me to help her transition from being in high school student to becoming a financial...

I use a wide (15-20%) trailing stop-loss just in case I become suddenly unable to manage my investments or kick the bucket. Otherwise I wouldn't use them at all.

Re: Converting From traditional IRA to Roth & Medicare
The premium didn't increase an additional $57.80. .... If you do incure an income related monthly adjustment amount(IRMAA) a more recent tax year could potentially be considered if you have had a Life Changing Event(LCE) including work reduction or stoppage. Perhaps I wasn't clear... The monthly Me...

Converting From traditional IRA to Roth & Medicare
I didn't see this coming... I converted from a traditional IRA to a Roth in 2018 and paid the appropriate taxes. No surprise there. I started on Medicare in October and my premiums were on the lower range based on Joint earnings. No surprise. What I didn't realize that it was based on 2017 income. S...

Re: Mueller Report the end of the DNC?
Anyone that thought the Mueller report was going to be basis for an impeachment is on crack. Anyone thinking the same report would be a clean exoneration of the Trump administration is also on crack. All this uproar on the Mueller investigation being a waste of time and money is simply political the...

Re: 2019 federal employee pay freeze
This will be (ya'll hope) my final point. I totally understand what Bill has said about the process. I accept that politically Trump will probably "lose" to the congressional process. What I'm beyond tired of is this president constantly whip up the base with stupid statements. I'm also am...

Re: 2019 federal employee pay freeze
He can veto pay bill. I thought the economy was doing so well that the increase in GDP would pay for the tax cuts and thus the budget wasn't so strained.

How in the hell can he support this move? Our economy is the strongest, we are seeing 4% GDP and we should all be tired of "winning".
