Everytime you see a headline on a news website heralding the deepening of the recession and stock prices about to collapse, the market goes up.

I like the idea of parking money in a CD except for the tax hit for money in motion. Don't you have to pay Federal (and maybe State) taxes on the withdrawal and again on the interest income?

In my Agency, there are no incentives to be a supervisor. It's considered a duty associated with certain positions. We have no problem filling these positions with qualified, motivated people who do an exceptional job. There are places in the Government that do provide challenging and rewarding care...

At least the fund prices froze on a day when we all made some money! That's worth a snapshot for a few days...

I used to view the pre-market movement as a sign of direction. With the volatility of the past 8 weeks, that's just not possible

So much for futures being up… looks like another kick-in the wallet today.

I was tempted to come out of my "G" Burrow at some point this week. Looks like I'll follow my 2022 Punxsutawney Phil Strategy and head back underground till Spring.

This is great information. I'm in a different boat, since I have my primary medical care through Tricare and individual care through the VA. I've got a couple of years before I need to make this decision, but it's never too early to start planning.

Too much volatility for me right now. I hate to sit timidly in G and wait, but it seems to be the safe play. These late-day buys and sell-offs are crazy stuff...

I'm interested in the thoughts of others... has the rate hike announcement (and sell-off yesterday) been priced into the market set the stage for a bottom for C and S funds?

I've been in G since 3 January. I'm not taking any risks until there's a little more stability (predictability) in the markets. Things will turn around, but it appears not in the near future.

I was following 161466, but thankfully abandoned ship on January 3d and ran to the G fund. I'm going to hide in my G fund bunker until things quiet and there's some semblance of stability. Right now, the F fund is the only relatively consistent gainer...

Today started out good and it looked like a sure up day. Too much volatility for my blood. I wanted to go out with a bang, but this isn't the year. I'm planning to retire this year and I will have to spend a lot of time sitting in the G fund.
