Re: S Fund Bubble??

"Am I wrong? Given the topic, I can't be the only one . . ." Yep. They're all dead. Small businesses. They're all dead, mom and pop shops are all dead. Obviously I'm exaggerating but the damage is extensive to non-publicly traded companies. It will be publicly traded small to medium size b...

Easy fix. Go work some place else and then you can roll it over since she stopped being employed there.

Re: newbie TSP investor

Check where the top 25 fantasy game leaders are invested. Also, check how long they have been on the site. If it's been less than 3 or 4 years discard them because that's too short a time to account for just luck. After that, check their performance against the market. You'll be surprised how many ...

Re: No Pay Raise Next Year

This is just the Senate bill. Besides, Georgia can still go to the Democrats and they get a majority in both house and change it then, or just give a better raise next year. Good lesson to not rely on pay increases, but to make yourself more valuable. Every year I made sure to have my supervisor qua...

Re: Options on how to offset the Payroll Tax Deferral?

This is where I would put the face slapping emoji. They are messing with their pay via withholdings for political reasons. I'm pretty sure that's not the reason why we have withholdings. Duh, but it isn't harmful. For some, any deviation from the expected pay amount leads to issues. Just look at the...

Re: Options on how to offset the Payroll Tax Deferral?

Why are people freaking out over this? You won't owe interest. They can't legally charge you interest. Under the law you only owe interest if YOU UNDER PAY. People are responsible for knowing their tax liability and pay that to the Government. If the Government says don't pay your tax liability, you...

Re: Options on how to offset the Payroll Tax Deferral?

My math teacher once told me that EVERYTHING in life must be paid back - somehow! There is a Russian saying that the only free cheese is one from a mousetrap. EXCELLENT saying ... I will be adding that to my list of sayings to pass on to my children! It is free... If you happen to be the sec...

Re: Options on how to offset the Payroll Tax Deferral?

Of Course we will not have to pay it back.....It's so strange how people get worked up over something. Enjoy the extra money this year.....I have to hear about this at working constantly....Geez Well I'm sure we'll pay it back if Trump loses. Since it's his executive order that stops the tax paymen...

Re: Options on how to offset the Payroll Tax Deferral?

Yea, exactly what bloobs said. I plan on setting an allotment to a high yield savings account so I don't have to think about transferring it and it'll feel like I never stopped paying it. Collect the interest and pay it next year.

Re: FERS Retirement / Reserve

It doesn't have to be a medical retirement. A soldier retired after 20 years can also get it. If they have a disability that they receive a waiver for to continue to serve can then receive it from a normal retirement. For example this Army Ranger soldier who continued to serve after losing his leg. ...

Re: FERS Retirement / Reserve

Yes, it is. If somebody is already receiving a full AD retirement, buying back their time for civil service isn't allowed (or if it is, it doesn't make sense financially). Unless part of their military retirement pay is granted as combat related. You cannot receive credit for any military service i...

Re: TSP Covid-19 loan.

This thread got my attention... I think the idea of loading $100K into a Roth account is an unbeatable opportunity. I currently don't have my TSP Roth account... I see some instructions that say to create the account through "MyPay"... is that it? Since I'm within 5 years of retirement, c...

Re: TSP Covid-19 loan.

I was just going to use it as a way to get money from my TSP into my ROTH IRA. I am intrigued by this idea. I haven't found any information saying this is an option, but I think you are suggesting that nothing says you can't take out $100,000 from your regular TSP and then repay it back to your Rot...

TSP Covid-19 loan.

I was wondering if anyone has used the provision in the CARES act to make a TSP withdrawal. I'm thinking about doing it because you can repay it into any retirement account. Not the one you withdraw from.

I was just going to use it as a way to get money from my TSP into my ROTH IRA.
