Rollover to a self directed IRA

Has anyone ever done a post separation rollover, either partial or full, from your traditional TSP to a self directed IRA (Checkbook IRA). And if so did it qualify as an eligible plan rollover where they did not have to with hold the 20% and the whole amount requested was rolled over?

Modernization Act Rules

With everything I have read and still being tight lipped about the Modernization Act I am beginning to believe it might not be as great as I thought. Post separation now you are allowed a one time partial withdrawal (form TSP-77). The Modernization Act is implying you will be allowed more than one p...

TSP Modernization Act Idea?

With the Modernization Act coming around next year I have an idea to share of how to trade individual stocks with your TSP money and still receive your monthly amount based on life expectancy (penalty free for those under 59.5) without having to keep your money in the TSP. For those of us in the cat...

Has your 2% plan achieved 10% for the year (since we're in the 5th month)?

Just curious if it's still working like you expect it to.

With the 2.65% for May it puts me at 16.75% since 1/1/18

Re: TSP Annuity option

200K on life expectancy will probably get you the $500/ mo or more you want. Plus your amount will probably continue to grow and be at your finger tips if needed. There is a page on the TSP website to figure your life expectancy payments, hard to find but if you call them they will get you there to ...

Re: Best Year Yet.

OctJan2..., The jest of my article was not just about timing and I cannot agree with you more on most things. I was always a buy and hold guy, especially while I was still working and putting in bi-weekly contributions. My post was mostly about being happy with the simplest 1-2% gains per month that...

Re: Best Year Yet.

I guess I meant to say that I have always got 2% since I started applying this way of thinking as we entered this sideways market. One month... great, two months...lucky?, three months...coincidence?, four months...??? I thought about it last year but it did not make sense in a market that just kept...

Re: Best Year Yet.

In reference to your comment TSP Jedi, your comment isn't necessary , I am only sharing a great retirement strategy that works for me and letting people know we got it good compared to others. We take away from this website what we want and no matter how much or how little we apply what we want. Do ...

Re: Best Year Yet.

In answer to the first question on Fantasy TSP, no. It was hard enough for me to find a way to post or even try to find my old post and I just got in from a long day, so to find time for that would be too much. I guess my real TSP is my fantasy. As for the second question I am getting my TSP on mont...

Best Year Yet.

I am not posting to brag, but posting to share, remember past practice is not always the future and the 'go away in May' thing coming up sometimes may spook ya. I have had a 4 month start to one of my best years yet, right there with your best Fantasy players or better. Retired and running a small b...

Seriously? I am no rocket scientist here. but I am retired and can smoke dope now, but I don't think it matters. If it trades the previous 50% or doesn't trade the pevious 50% you will stiil end the day and start the next with the same balance whether the trade happened with the previou 50% at all. ...

Retired and running a small business and two kids in Engineering/Computer schooling playing the Crypto Market for me I very seldom have time to do my own trades. But with winter being a down time I catch up. Yes, IFT'ed it today. Even with MarketWatch using Trump as a chearleader for Dow 30k and som...
