Re: Is this the culprit?
Yes, I think you found the culprit but I don't see a "better, more seamless and higher quality services to our participants" since the rollout. Wonder if any government employees were displaced or if the call centers were already contracted out? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_Street_G...

Re: Retirement Income Modeler
You really don't want your balance to go to $0, but if you go out to 120 and use the Income Fund, the balance should go down significantly the further out. you go. I don't think they are properly calculating RMDs I just. tried it and it appears to be a COTS program that dumbs it down compared to the...

Re: Federal Employee question.. not TSP related
There are some FEHB plans that. are only available to certain employee groups (e.g. AFSPA) and I believe postal workers have lower premiums for their plans although plans are available to non-postal workers. So you may have more options if either of you work for one of thee qualifying organizations....

Re: TSP.GOV
I'm not a fan...wish I would have downloaded my recent quarterly/annual statements before this change. The only historical info available appears to be year end balances from 2010 onward. The only information under statements appears to be from conversion (Apr 26) to present. Percentages are rounded...

Re: Best way to maximize TSP income in retirement?
There is an advantage to Dividend paying stocks in a Retirement account with RMDs. Rather than reinvesting everything, you can withdraw the cash from the dividends to cover your RMD instead of having to liquidate any assets.

Re: Has anybody heard of this bill?
I don't see anything transformative about it, maybe for people starting out but Feds already have pretty good set up and some don't take advantage of it. I like pushing out the date for RMDs further. Does anyone really think it is going to make more people save for retirement?

Re: Retired, husband has earned income, transferring tax paid stock to roth
Suggest you contact your financial advisor. If allowed, I think it should be reported on your 1099-B/COMP with any dividends you got during the year prior to moving it and I think the loss should be shown as a sale based on the price on the date of transfer (not sure if they reprice it when it goes ...

Re: Coming up on Medicare... what to do
This is great information. I'm in a different boat, since I have my primary medical care through Tricare and individual care through the VA. I've got a couple of years before I need to make this decision, but it's never too early to start planning. With Tricare, you are required to sign up for medi...

Re: Tricare premiums and retirement pay.
In retirement Tricare premiums would be after-tax whether you pay them out of pocket or have them deducted. Medical Premiums paid while you are working are pre-tax, once you retire the deductions are after tax. As such, if you itemize, your premiums would be qualified medical expenses but you can on...
