Fed rate cut?

Post by RangerDave »

Nice day we are having today!?!?!

Does anyone have information regarding a possible rate cut? Today, tomorrow, this week? It would be a good play if we could hit it right!

Thanx

This may be tough to time. My understanding is that the next central bank meeting is at the end of the month but they may make a surprise rate cut before then.

The rates are not the problem. The banks are not lending but are hoarding cash. Cutting the rates won’t change this at all. Interesting times.

I think the Fed will cut interest rates along with our friends around the World. The interest rate cut will be most effective on the markets when it is coordinate with other Nations.

Won't the bailout plan give the banks the money they need to start lending?? I think so but I might be wrong. After the bailout starts taking effect a rate cut would further help banks to start lending to each other again. The only thing with another rate cut is "INFLATION" and inflation kills economies.

They didn't wait until the scheduled Fed meeting. Rates have been cut this morning by a half-point in coordination with other central banks in an attempt to stem the credit crisis.

Cutting interest rates can stimulate economic growth and help restore confidence to markets :D . But doing so may undermine a currency as investors look for better returns elsewhere. The U.S. rate is now the second-lowest among the majors, higher only than Japan.
