Ewok55 Reporting in
So happy to have found this site. I've been lurking for the last couple days and reading up on the seasonal mixes. Very interested in what I've read so far.
Background: I've been a fed employee for about 4 years (first year wasn't eligible for TSP as I was trainee status). Am in my young 30s and have another 26 years to go so I'm in it for the long haul, but also interested in using seasonal mix to boost my earnings beyond the average S&P or core funds. I've been invested in the L2040 until last month, when I got in the S Fund to close out with 11.4% gain. I contribute 5% currently, with another 5% agency matched. This is all I can afford at the moment but looking forward to increasing as I get raises. Also hoping to replicate some of the gains seen on these leaderboards!
Good luck to all,
Ewok55

Cannot reflect this change in TSPCenter as it says I already had 2 (I suppose signing up for a Fantasy TSP account automatically counts as a Transfer, when they started me off with everything in G). Will get TSPCenter Fantasy account to match real TSP in Feb.
I need to stop reading the news so much, as everything I read appears to point at a downturn. That and I'm interested in following some form of Timboslice's 2016 seasonal mix, which calls for a start to the year in F fund anyways.
Downside, I will not be able to move to C fund until Feb 2.
Timboslice
Jan: F Fund
Feb: C Fund
Mar: S Fund
Apr: I Fund
May: C Fund
Jun: F Fund
Jul: C Fund
Aug: F Fund
Sep: F Fund
Oct: C/S Fund
Nov: S Fund
Dec: S/I Fund
Solid choice. Good Luck!
I am just an average Joe. I have no clue to what the market will do.

Welcome Ewok55! Good to have another new-ish employee here. Have 30+ years ahead of me as well and am excited at the potential returns my wife (also a new hire) and I can make. Lots of great folks here if you have any questions and any/all of Aitrus' stuff on seasonal strategies is excellent!
Re: Ewok55 Reporting in
Welcome to the forum. The seasonal mixes are definitely a good read, but it remains to be seen if they will beat S-fund buy and hold in the long run. The S fund beat my seasonal strategy last year.

ewok55,
I responded to your other thread.
Are you investing in Traditional or Roth TSP? If Traditional, you may be able to increase your contributions to higher percentage without much impact on your take-home pay since it lowers your taxes. TSP has Paycheck Estimator & Contribution Comparison Calculator that may be helpful https://www.tsp.gov/PlanningTools/Calcu ... mator.html

Re: Ewok55 Reporting in
Thanks, everybody, for the kind welcoming.
@Evilanne, I currently contribute my 5% to the Roth TSP... I wish my agency placed their TSP matching into the Roth as well, but beggars can't be choosers. I'll check out that calculator you linked to see about adding more in the Traditional. As it stands, however, many calculators tell me I'm on target with where I need to be as far as my savings... But never hurts to save more .
I also took your advice posted in my Fantasy Thread and allocated 100% to G in order to more closely match my real TSP. Thanks again!

Re: Ewok55 Reporting in
Welcome aboard ewok55!
I am mid-30's with north of 20yrs to go. I just recently tuned in to this site and am truly hopeful that I can begin to implement some strategies here. I've been 100% C,S,&I for roughly 8 yrs and I am now trying to incorporate (through the data compiled by Aitrus {whom I owe many thanks}) a Seasonal Strategy coupled with a Moving Average to decide when to jump from one seasonal fund to the next.
I hope this site helps you reach your ultimate goal for retirement.
My goal is to be in the 2-comma club before I exit

Re: Ewok55 Reporting in
Well first let me say THANK YOU FOR THIS THREAD. I have been in the TSP for a long time now and learned thru this thread that I do not have to put 5% into traditional to get the matching. I always assumed I did (We know what assumed does). I just went and moved that 5% deduction to what I already contribute to the Roth. Dang I sure wish I knew this back in 2012 when this started. My fault, and again thanks for the thread.
