New Check-In from Alabama
Hey All,
New guy from Huntsville, AL...working ISS stuff...
I can't believe I have not come across this site earlier....!! Awesome stuff....I am currently a member on one of the other TSP sites and following more of the technical/fundamental analysis with my TSP....I am not doing bad, but being that I started a tad late, I am a tad more interested on the Growth --> Aggressive Growth side of investing....
About 4.5yrs from retirement....(MRA) and trying to squeak out everything I can....while staying as safe as I can...(everyone's goal, right??)
This whole "seasonality" type investment style is totally different than my (primarily) TA style of investing. I am trying to read up as much as I can on both the monthly (as well as the newer daily) style of seasonal investing.. I guess I need to get familiar with tspcalc.com , don't I?? lol
One of the things I might be interested in as well is utilizing this method in my other IRA's and 401K's......I have read some posts where some people are doing that as well....
Looking forward to participating in some of the discussions...

Greetings bamafamily...there is a wealth of info on the site to learn from. Aitrus is the expert on the monthly strategies and always willing to share. Don't be afraid to ask questions. The daily almost seems too good to be true (only time will tell), but there is always risk when investing in the stock market. Good luck!

You really need to read Aitrus' "
Seasonal Musings" thread. My website is only a tool for now, it doesn't explain anything. Aitrus, by contrast, explains seasonality in great detail. His strategies have more research tied to them than the tspcalc.com strategies do.

Re: New Check-In from Alabama
Thanks MJ....That was actually one of the first posts I found...
I will be comparing monthly's and daily's over the next week or so to see which way I will head....Like you said, the strategies he mentions do have more research, but they are monthly trades where there is the possibility of missing out on some gains based on more frequent "signals".
I saw a post somewhere else about how far of a lookback period do you actually need given how dynamic our financial system is....e.g. does data from 20yrs ago really have as much credence as data from say 10 yrs ago?? or 5yrs ago?? something I will be trying to look at....thx again and great tool you have created...

It is nice to have more data but I agree that the more recent should be more relevant or predictive (no guarantees regardless of how much data you have), especially after the last financial crisis, QE etc., I think much has changed over the years.

Shoot.. look at the G fund for instance. Starting the first 15 years of TSP the G Fund averaged 6.96%. Holy smokes...
My Step-Dad was in the fed in 1988, they told him then the G Fund was going to be perfect when you retire. It's going to average 5-10% forever and your money was be great there. Oh how times have changed.
