You will be living beyond your pension? How many years do you expect to get out of your TSP Account before you run out of money?

I retired 2 1/2 years ago. The TSP monthly payment constitutes about one-third of my retirement income. Good luck Hilander!

Retirement date is 31 March 2018! Looking to get 20 to 25% of retirement income from TSP account. Wife will still be working, contributing max and catchup to her tsp. If she retired now she would be under the MRA+10. Right now she would have a 30% annuity reduction.

Just remember that your TSP account is only worth about 75% (at best) of what it shows, thanks to taxes. The TSP folks will happily let you take withdrawals with little or no withholding, just so they can laugh as they hear you getting smacked by the tax man the following April 15th.

That said, enjoy it. Retirement is an excellent career choice!

I plan to withdraw only so much every month that it keeps me in a lower tax bracket, and live in a place where I am not subject to state or local income taxes.
