I just signed up, and I think i will learn a lot. I retired from the USPS on disablity retirement in 2014. I took out half of my money to live on and have left the rest to grow. I left around 56k and grew to almost 80k, but I started drawing 700.00 a month to make ends meet. I don't plan on taking it out or rolling it over anywhere, I like it in the TSP, and that I can change it if needed. I wish I could still do it every 2 weeks, that was when we made the most money. But I have done ok over the years. I look forward to hearing about how folks who have been retired are handling their investments.

How long until your TSP Account runs out of money?

Welcome aboard thatlilsew! Wishing you many positive returns :) I did partial withdrawal (rolled over to an IRA) and then started taking life expectancy payments as I retired early and that is the only way I could access without a tax penalty. The amount I receive each year is calculated automatically based on my end of year balance and age. TSP retirement calculator uses Life Expectancy calculations based on your balance and Rate of Return assumptions through age 69 and RMD calculations at 70.5 through 115 (uses a slightly different IRS table).

That means you need to begin investing your account better to maintain a $700 monthly withdrawal at age 85.

Good to find you all. I've had a nice run being aggressive in the C and S over the last 22yrs. But just put everything in the G to pause and plot my next allocation. I'm looking at 10-12 yrs to retirement and find myself much more interested in my TSP nest egg. How much longer can the Bulls run before a major correction?
