Daily Seasonal Totals

Post by repinda808 »

I'm finally catching up on the Daily Seasonal strategy. However, I'm finding discrepancies with the numbers. I'm finding that the total percentages for each year does not equal that year's sum of all the months. Is there a calculation that's being applied?

Not trying to debunk this strategy, just trying to make sure I understand what I'm jumping into. Thanks for all the work that's been put into this strategy and the site as well.

You have to compound them, not just add them up.

Example:

2.37%, 4.05%

Turn them into decimals and add 1 to each:

1.0237 * 1.0405 = 1.065

Now go back to a percentage:

(1.065 - 1) * 100 = 6.5% compound

Keep in mind you will still be a little bit off. The calculator uses 4 decimal digits but only displays two. So it is not possible to use the 2 decimal output to backcheck the final numbers with 100% accuracy.

Are the monthly totals compounded also, then? Or are the simply a sum? So, are the annual numbers essentially compounded daily or monthly? Actual returns on an annual basis would be compounded daily.

mjedlin66,

Thanks for the clarification. I assumed compounding, but wanted to make sure. Great work bro!

Everything is compounded daily.

mjedlin66,
I noticed on 10716 for August 2017 that it is showing .97%. Is there an error there or am I not looking at something right? It should be something like .10% I think.

You're missing the I fund on August 1st which was a nice bump.
