New server today.

The DNS (Domain Name System) will now point "tspcalc.com" to the new server. However, every ISP (Internet Service Provider) has their own DNS server. So this update can take 1-4 days to propagate across the entire internet.

So to "bridge the gap", both the old and the new server have identical copies of the website.

In order to avoid new strategies being added to the old server's database, I connected the old server use the new server's database. If you load the website from the old server, you have to wait for it to connect to the new server, run the database queries, download them, and then process the data.

So... what that means is that until your ISP updates their DNS server, the website will be running much slower for you. Once the DNS is updated, it should resume its normal speed.

HOPEFULLY, if all goes well, I will have completed this server migration with zero downtime.

I gotta say, board activity seems to have been booming (kinda) since all the talk of the daily strategy has come out. Nice work. B-)

MJedlin66, Thank you so much for the work you have put into this project, it has truly changed the way I invest. I was also wondering if there was a way to see a calendar that shows the projected positive returns against the actual? For example if 7980 said S fund, but I fund was actually higher for that day or time period. Just something I thought might be interesting to show current accuracy for newbies like me.

That is an interesting request. It is certainly possible to do. But it is not a priority for me right now, unfortunately.

I totally understand, just a thought I wanted to put out there before I forgot it. Thanks again.

Just a question about november, Is it possible for november to have more than 20 trading days? There are two holidays that are always observed (veterans day and thanksgiving). These two days always have a non trading day even if veterans day is on a weekend. I think as far as i can see november can have a maximum of 22 weekdays. So 20 maximum trading days after holidays.

So for the strategies 20th trading day is always the same as last trading day. That would make a lot of strategies redundant. If this is right then 20th trading day shouldnt be an option for november.

Am I right or am i being dumb and missing something?

Should be right, if both holidays are indeed observed. However, I did see a year that posted results for 21 days in November.

mjedlin66:

I'd like to request an addition to the Sort & Filter box; a Simple Ratio of Mean/StdDev.

While some people are already calculating this manually, it would be convenient to be able to sort the entire database.

Much thanks for your awesome website.

Do you by any chance remember what year that was? I went back to 2011 and counted a max of 22 weekdays.

November has 20-22 weekdays. Thanksgiving the markets are closed. The markets do not close for Veteran's day but TSP does.

ahhh, Ok, that makes sense. How does that affect us? Does the tsp adjust its funds on the next day it is open?

So does it still make a difference for seasonal strategy purposes?
