It's strange that the news didn't report anything about a typhoon in Japan. I wish they would or something different, tired of all the nonsense from Washington. Glad all is safe and your work is safe as well.

I guess the Japanese don't have tables or desks? Stay safe.

Very seldom, that's why their houses are usually tidy and clean, not cluttered.

They have had 22 named storms this year. Tracking is done by Joint Typhoon Warning center.

As soapstone pointed out, Japan gets typhoons all the time. They are a part of life here. This one was a direct hit on our little island, and people were still out driving during the storm (50mph winds). Even though it was a direct hit, it was only a cat 1 typhoon and that is child's play to the islanders.

We lost power and got it back 4 times in 24 hours. The longest power outage was only about 45 minutes. I looked outside and saw two boom trucks driving through our neighborhood. The lineman were out making repairs DURING the typhoon. That takes balls. I respect those men.

Aside from broken tree branches EVERYWHERE, I haven't seen any damage. I was out in our parking lot during the storm. A kayak had been blown across the parking lot. When I picked up the kayak it almost blew me over. I had to lean sideways into the wind to walk. It was an interesting experience.

Plus, the eye of the storm almost engulfed the entire island. I went outside during the eye. It was calm and bright out. There were birds chirping. The only indication of a storm was the radar on my cell phone showing high winds all around me.

No big deal, just a neat experience. My laptop was our only hiccup. The whole place was business as usual the next morning.

Infrastructure on Okinawa is very well built. I was there during a cat 3 and we had our power restored about 7 hours after the storm.

Glad the family is safe, MJ. Take care, make your repairs, and get back in the game when you can. No rush, your creation is stable and satisfies the masses. Focus on what matters first.
