Just observing plenty of the "leaders" on the tspcalc.com, many had already G fund until the 9th of the month where you'd place it into the F fund. That would be a nice order of business for how this month is turning out. June is a tough month to make gains it seems, looking at the past, the G fund or F was the best.

See how today ends, we've had a lot of those great big smile formations :) intra-day with stocks lately. And that most often translates to a frown :( with the F fund.

Total return is what matters. Just because interest rates increase, doesn't mean that bond values will go down in proportional value. The strengthening USD is affirming US treasuries and the US bond market as havens of safety for investors. Also, bonds will have more value as some investors will start chasing yields.

Remember also that the F Fund mirrors a bond market, not the bonds themselves. The prices reflect what investors are willing to pay for the bonds, not what the bonds are actually returning.
