Us for Houston, Montana, and Puerto Rico
I am extremely lucky. I am well educated with a great career and a supportive family. I married the woman of my dreams who is similarly educated and successful. I come home every night to an apartment with clean water, electricity, and air conditioning. I have enough free time to pursue my programming hobby, and recently built TSPCalc.com. This was not my first website by a long shot, but it is absolutely the first that has seen such a generous trend of donations.
People in Houston, Puerto Rico, Western Montana, and The Cascades are not so lucky right now.
So I set aside enough of my website's donations to cover the next 5 years of web hosting. The rest I split between the Garfield County Fire Foundation Relief Fund, and the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund. I donated $500 in total.
I call on my friends at TSPCenter to donate $5, $10, $20, or whatever they can afford to help Americans recover from these tragedies.
Thanks,
-Matt

Wow, I was about to give a donation to the page too. I will instead give to Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund

Tell me about it man... my wifes Grandma and Aunties live in Puerto Rico. It's raining ash here in the greater Portland, OR area.
Great job bringing this to light Matt!

I'm in washington state and this is the worst smoke I've ever seen in 30 years. Visibility is at like a 1/4 mile...

Yep. I don't know where you're at, but I'm over on the East side of the state, and it's pretty bad over here. Visibility is sometimes at less than a 1/4 mile. There's a 1-acre lot behind my house, and sometimes I can barely see the houses that are across the lot from me.

Travis1984,
because I'm WA Air Nat'l Guard, I'm on standby for not only hurricane relief, but for state wildfire support as well. We'll see what happens in the next few days / weeks. A number of my fellow Guardsmen live down near you, and they're in the same boat. We're all waiting for the call to go out.
Kudos to MJ for getting this thread started. It's conversations like this and times like these that make me think of a 1973 opinion piece by Gordon Sinclair, a Canadian broadcast host. Still applicable today, as nothing has really changed since those days. America still does the things he talks about, and we still get treated the same way.
Here's a youtube link. The speech starts at about 50 seconds in, but if you listen from the start it's interesting to hear his old-timey description of how the piece went viral before "viral" was a thing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwv-dndrMDE

Re: Us for Houston, Montana, and Puerto Rico
Thanks for the links, MJ, especially the fire relief fund. Knowing that the links came from you, I know they're legit. There are few well established organizations that I trust.
Re: Us for Houston, Montana, and Puerto Rico
Thanks for the links. Gonna donate to it now.

Aitrus, Enjoyed the 1973 youtube speech--totally different perspective in today's media

The latest official forecast is for Irma hitting Southern Florida right over Miami sometime Sunday afternoon, then heading north up the state's east coast.
“Some fluctuations in intensity are likely during the next day or two, but Irma is forecast to remain a powerful Category 4 or 5 hurricane during the next couple of days," the NHC said in a public advisory on Wednesday.

That looks similar to Hurricane Matthew's track last year.
