If your TSP has millions of dollars already....
If your TSP has millions of dollars in it already, would you still go for the daily strategy? Or would you put half of it to G fund (for safety purposes) and do the daily strategy for the rest of the money?
Let's assume we are talking about our own situation, that is, based on our own risk tolerance, age, financial status, etc.

If it were 1 million... you are talking $20K per year in the G fund versus $150k in a daily assuming it makes 15% (about 1/2 of what they back tested).
This question is loaded with no assumptions on risk tolerance, age, current financial needs, blah blah blah
If I'm 40, use the seasonal, If I'm 80 it depends on how the last 40 years went!

Bingo

I've often wondered about this. I think its too hard to say something like this without actually having that money. It's like when a friend gives you all the advice of what they would do, but then when they are in the same situation they handle it like you did. At least, that's how I see it.

I'm stay the same strategy even I retired in June of this year.

The CAPE is around 30 right now.

The stock market is too unpredictable. I would invest in CDs.

Keep reading the threads mhayes, there is a lot to learn
Hint: You are going to have to get into the stock market at some point if you want any chance of reaching $1M

I'd fully stick to the plan. Assuming $1M in the account, with 7653's worst year to date at 13.25% in 2014, you could reasonably draw 10%, 100K, per year and not dip into your principal. While this amount won't have you owning a jet, or living the live's of the rich and famous, I'll take it over having to continue to work after I retire.
The way I look at it, I prefer to manage my TSP with a large sum according to a seasonal mix in retirement rather than putting in hours at another job to make ends meet.

People who equate success with greed will never attain a million in their TSP.
If you feel guilty about having too much money, give it away to your favorite charities.

Yep, I might just do that. It would be hard for rich people to go to heaven.

To apply the generally accepted 4 percent withdrawal rule on a retirement savings account, one should strive to average 8% interest to maintain that income through out golden years. The stock market averages 8% a year over decades. My thoughts are Using the 4% rule to know what you need as a balance in any said retirement account to determine how aggressive you need to be in your time frame until retirement or to begin withdrawal. example 4 percent of 100k is about 333 dollars per month and still maintain your original 100K.
To maximize account and beat inflation the stock market index's is the only simple vehicle. Its more than possible in TSP to retire making more money than while working. Start early and never take a loan from it and never stop investing.
And never get divorced LOL!
I think that after understanding these simple launching thoughts that it could encourage you to learn more , develop your plan, then stick to it.
