Have you looked at what you'll earn in retirement? What your pension would be and a potential return on your TSP?

For example, you know what your pension would be, but at 750k invested in an EFT like SPHD which as a 12 Month Distribution Rate of 3.58%, you would get $26,850.

You could also buy a smattering of stocks like T that yield higher to squeeze a little more out.

I guess the biggest thing is addressing why you can't commit to retire.
OCTOBER: This is one of the peculiarly dangerous months to speculate in stocks in. The others are July, January, September, April, November, May, March, June, December, August, and February. - Pudd'nhead Wilson's Calendar

I would retire if i were in your shoes.

On a more grim note, since I was hired 2.5 years ago I have seen 2 coworkers eligible for retirement pass away rather suddenly. They were not exactly gym rats but did not seem to be in horrible shape. I always wondered if they would have enjoyed a few years to themselves...

Great feedback from everyone. Actually thinking about the motorcycle suggestion. Plan to make my decision this week. I'm driving my wife mad and she has told me to make a decision.

Haha, got to listen to your wife. It would be thoughtful of you to let her retire early so you and her can travel afar. Enjoy life together until the end.

I would retire, and volunteer at something I enjoyed.

I have never known anyone on their deathbed say, " I wish I had worked one more year " .

My goal is to retire at age 40.

You only get one life. How much money do you really need?

Concerned about the 2018 budget and losing the FERS supplement. If it passes the senate as is it will be a big reduction in retirement income for those that leave before social security eligible. I'm leaning toward retiring 12/31/17.
