Yes, politics obviously have no place in this discussion. I mean obviously, this is completely unrelated to which party controls Congress or the White House. This exact thing would have happened if Democrats won the White House.

If Democrats also won Congress we would all be listening to Congress expecting cuts to the corporate tax rate.

So yea, politics are completely irrelevant.

Report: White House Officials Backed 2019 Pay Freeze, $300 Billion in Cuts to Employee Compensation

http://www.govexec.com/pay-benefits/201 ... =top-story

The article supports the fact that many of the proposed options that have been circulating will not likely happen. Any major changes should apply to new employees. They can try to implement some of the proposed changes but most will likely end up in court.
Under the heading “Office of Personnel Management,” it describes implementing a pay freeze for federal workers in 2019 as “the most important” compensation proposal, as it is “the only one we can do unilaterally.

With at least 19 years left for minimum retirement age for me, I hope these things get sorted out by then. I'm gonna try to just focus on the here and now and pocket all I can for retirement in my TSP and Roth IRA that was when the time comes, if I don't get a SS Supplement, it won't be a big deal to me.

and we need to remember that much of this is partisan posturing

"Crooked Media is a liberal news and opinion website founded in 2017 by former Obama administration staffers. The published version of the memo is a “verbatim recreation,” intended to protect the identity of the source. The memo is undated, but it lists the point of contact on the OPM proposals as James Sherk, who left the Heritage Foundation to become the White House labor adviser in February, and makes reference to the fiscal 2018 budget, which was released in May."
