Oddity question - withdrawals

Post by cswift01 »

Dear TSP Center forum members,

Just a question for our forum members. I noticed that every year I have "withdrawals" out of my TSP. Usually it's not a grotesque amount (almost a Dollar), however, it keeps happening almost every year. Is this the cost we pay (i.e. the 0.038% expense)? I thought that was automatically taken from the share price (i.e. the earnings). Note that I know that there are no earnings, just share price adjustments.

Just curious to see if this is normal.

Thanks,

Me

Where do you see this withdrawal listed? Quarterly statement?

The only amount in withdrawal should be a loan, partial rollover/withdrawal or monthly payments under full withdrawal after separation. My statements have $0 for withdrawals. You should check with your HR and TSP as it does not make sense to me.

I thought it was weird.

It usually shows up on quarterly statements.

I'll contact TSP, whom will tell me to contact HR, whom will tell me to contact TSP.

Fun stuff.

Thanks.

I went back and looked at all my quarterly statements and I only had 1 year (2008)that they did a withdrawal/deduction for 2 different quarters. Below is a list of the explanations they had for the withdrawals/deductions. 2Q2008 $24.61 and 4Q2008 $4.33 Total for the year 28.94. On the annual statement it is listed as adjustments. I have never had a loan or withdrawal of "Any Kind". These adjustments always proceeded another Transaction Type "Late Contribution". Not sure exactly what all this means or how or why it happened.

Quarterly Transaction Type from Statement:
1. Negative Adjustment
2. Earnings Adjustment

Hope this helps.

Sorry, can't help with this one. Thank you for bringing it up though. I just reviewed 10 years of statements looking for discrepancies. Didn't find anything wrong, but it made me really look at my statements, not just the last line.
