What happens when transfer 50/50% fr C/S-fund to 100% C-fund
Here is a 101 question. If I am currently 50/50% in two different funds and then decide to reallocate 100% in one of those two funds, will the new 50% transfer be bought at the new market price or all of the 100% when investing back into the same fund that I am already 50% in?

New 50% transfer be bought at the new market price at the closing price that day you will buy if you transfer before 12 noon. The other 50 % you already bought it so you can't buy again. I hope this help.

I don't think this is total correct.BYK777 wrote:New 50% transfer be bought at the new market price at the closing price that day you will buy if you transfer before 12 noon. The other 50 % you already bought it so you can't buy again. I hope this help.
TSP actually sells all your shares. EVEN the ones in the current fund you are transferring to. But it buys them back at the same selling price. So it is really just a technicality because you end up with the same 50% portion you had.
Its kind of confusing... But after several conversation in the forums. I am 99% sure my above statement is true.
I am just an average Joe. I have no clue to what the market will do.

Seriously? I am no rocket scientist here. but I am retired and can smoke dope now, but I don't think it matters. If it trades the previous 50% or doesn't trade the pevious 50% you will stiil end the day and start the next with the same balance whether the trade happened with the previou 50% at all. Sort of like 'if a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound? LOL.

LMAO. Good read. If I had to guess, people are worried about selling at a loss. So the OP probably has a funny feeling in his gut about selling/changing funds right now.rcevans wrote:Seriously? But like you said...
As long as he doesn't move to "G" and then buy in later at a higher price. Its all good!Sort of like 'if a tree falls in the woods and nobody is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

Excellent responses, I actually moved to the G a week into the drop and took the loss. Was sitting near 6% for Jan and now at a loss per the Fantasy. Should had sold the Thursday before the drop began but recently pushed into C,S,I ... Hoping to move into a gain somewhere down the road. I am trying to chase a 15% gain for end-of-the-year. In the past 3 years of trading my TSP, I have never seen the market become so erratic of more than .25-.50 in any given trading day.

Indeed, the last three years have seen the lowest volatility in decades.
