tsp strategy for our unique IFT rule

tsp strategy for our unique IFT rule
our organization has a 15 day IFT rule in our tsp:
14-Day Transfer Rule
You may transfer among investment options within the Thrift Plan, but you will be restricted by the14-Day Transfer Rule. This means you may transfer money between any investment funds, but you are restricted from transferring money into or out of those particular investment options again until the 15th calendar day following the transfer. You may complete a transfer involving two or more investment options not included in the prior transfer within the 14 calendar day restriction period, which would begin a new 14 calendar day restriction period for those investment funds involved in this second transfer (and so forth).
Can someone recommend a good strategy that meets the above requirement? currently the best I could find is: 23979

So is it 14 or 15 days? http://tspcenter.com/forums/viewtopic.p ... 15&p=68486 Have you come up with any strategies yourself?

Re: tsp strategy for our unique IFT rule
What a terrible rule. Can you find a comparable job in another organization?

sbarman, Have you come up with any strategies yourself?
So is this special rule designed to prevent potential insider trading by government employees within your agency?

OCTOBER: This is one of the peculiarly dangerous months to speculate in stocks in. The others are July, January, September, April, November, May, March, June, December, August, and February. - Pudd'nhead Wilson's Calendar
Re: tsp strategy for our unique IFT rule
I would say take a look at Atrius' seasonal strategies that he posts about and do the once a month thing. It's been proven to work out amazing the last two decades+, so following one of his tracked ones or the TSP seasonal strategy would be a nice boost and a move every 30 days instead.
Once ya pop, ya can't stop.
Re: tsp strategy for our unique IFT rule
If I were you I'd do a tspcalc filter for say 10-18 IFT's and see what you return.

seasonal strategies haven't been around the last two decades. It looked at the data going back and made a system. It hasn't worked that long, it only looked at what has worked and used that to go forward.
If you go to the TSPcalc and compare TSPCenter seasonality to buy and hold C and S it has done worse since it was started in 2010.
TSPcenter - 98.40%
C - 180.04%
S - 188.80%

Re: tsp strategy for our unique IFT rule
That's true for the TSPCenter seasonal calculator default setting, but that's not the only one that's out there, nor is it the best performing one. Look at Jahbulon's and gclapper's Mixes from 2010 - 2017:ArrieS wrote:

TSPcenter - 98.40%
C - 180.04%
S - 188.80%
Jahbulon - 279.43%
gclapper (#2252) - 329.30%
Or if you insist on viewing them since inception, then let's go with 2014, which is when I started tracking them:
C - 57.53%
S - 43.94%
TSPcenter - 41.75%
Jahbulon - 89.81%
gclapper - 105.78%
Just because you cherry picked an under-performing Mix to support your argument doesn't mean the theory is shot.

It doesn't fit his narrative, thus only speak negativity.

Let ArrieS buy & hold if he wishes. There are advantages/disadvantages to any method.

Re: tsp strategy for our unique IFT rule
I don't think the issue is with letting someone exercise their strategy, it's the one-sided oral/written comments hoping to prove to others that they are wrong/right. The truth will always set you free ..... twinkies are healthier than salads.evilanne wrote:Let ArrieS buy & hold if he wishes. There are advantages/disadvantages to any method.
Re: tsp strategy for our unique IFT rule
Shimmer down now. The commenter said "It's been proven to work out amazing the last two decades+" which is false.
They also only specificly mentioned TSP seasonal calculator.
I didn't ignore anything, no other strategy was specifically mentioned.
