I Fund for April?

My daily (https://tspcalc.com/seasonal.php?ID=27777) had me in the S fund since February 26th and has me going to the I fund for the first week and a half of April. I got pretty beat up since February 26, down 2.86%. Do I stay in the S fund and hope to recoup some loss or sell low and hope the I fund catches fire? ...or jump to safety in the G at a loss?

I'm seriously considering breaking up with #27777 (I'd never marry a daily) and jumping on the "strength and market pull" train when our portfolios line up.

Advice appreciated!

Just my thoughts, take it with a grain of NaCl as I am no professional.

F fund is not doing that great this year, not at all. I think you will fair better being in the G fund.

Odd question - looking at your strategy I see no transfers to the F fund at all though. ?

That was a typo, I meant to type I fund. Sorry... editing original post.

What's the point of having a plan? Look at the backtested history of #27777, it isn't always positive. If your going to stop following a plan because it once in a while goes negative than really you have no plan.

DITTO for the most part.

If your plan has PLANNED contingencies then that would seem reasonable to exercise this contingencies when conditions dictate. Just make sure that you have a good grasp on how and when you would exercise those plans. Just remember that when you do an "audible at the line" that you may create a problem getting back in sync with the baseline of what ever strategy/plan you have.

Thanks for talking me off the ledge, i stuck to the plan... time will tell which direction off of the ledge it turned out to be though!

Making it less painful, S is up well today so i may not be selling at as much of a loss as i could have.

Thanks!

Same here, I couldn't seem to get a break from the roller-coaster ride that keeps returning to low points. I have compared a lot of daily strategies lately, and just moved over to daily 27594 which has done fairly well since last June, and ytd so far without any F fund.

Ironically, I've taken part in talking other daily subscribers off the same ledge recently, guess its different when its YOUR real shares being sold at a loss... easier said than done.

Any "new" thoughts on the I fund for April?

Time will obviously tell, but the S fund, which i moved from, has had a better bump than the I fund. Both positive though.

I thought everything looked good so I did 40% C, 30% S and 30% I
Only 2 IFTs a month, so diversify. Thats my thinking

Monthly seasonal moved me to I at the beginning of April and am currently beating all the other funds (yes with my real money. Removing all emotion in this volatile market is very refreshing :)

I don't understand what role the I fund should play. My guess is the L funds are a good model for how to diversify TSP funds but the L funds put a much higher percentage in I than S. I don't understand that since S has a much better return over 10 years. Still, I put some in I just to diversify a bit but most in C and S.
