Wahoo! Daily Seasonal is rockin’! Don’t call it a comeback!!
For the first six months of the year it was a first-rate disaster. On June 30th I was down 0.68% while the S Fund was at +8%. My work buddies wanted me to just go 33%/33%/33% C/S/I. They were all like “Mr. Snrub, you gotta ditch this lamebrained seasonal nonsense. you’re not Warren Buffet, you don’t know what the heck you’re doing. You’re ruining your retirement, man.” Well guess what? Who’s laughing now, huh?!?! Who’s laughing now?!?!?!?! YARRRRRGH!!!!! I’m a champion so I stuck with it, I didn’t give up, I persevered, and I’m at an all-time high of 185K! (would’ve been 205K if I hadn’t’ve bought my house.) At 37 years old that ain’t too shabby. Bring on the Santa Rally!!

Congratulations MrSnrub. You went S on Nov 19th, contrary to most of the sentiment. It paid off, good for you.
Anyone know of a daily that IFTed you in on the 20th?

Bravo Zulu MrSnrub

I goofed, actually. #28789 says to move to S on the 13th trading day of November. I stupidly thought Veterans Day was a trading day, but it is not. So I moved from G to S a day earlier than I should’ve. I woukd’ve done even better if I’d’ve moved on the 20th!

Veterans Day was a trading day I believe. Just not a TSP day. Both days were combined for the returns on the 13th.

Tomanyiron- I’ve finally settled on #42014. It’s a no F Fund strategy and it switched to the S Fund On the 20th.

Yep. For the purposes of TSPcalc, VD is a holiday. I need to write an article about that.Tomanyiron wrote:Veterans Day was a trading day I believe. Just not a TSP day. Both days were combined for the returns on the 13th.

From what I can tell, the price was based on November 13 and not a combination of the two unless the closing price for Nov. 13 was calculated to include Nov. 12's closing price?Tomanyiron wrote:Veterans Day was a trading day I believe. From TSP's email, "Share prices for each investment fund were updated at close of business on the following day, November 13, 2018. Transactions that would have been processed on November 12 were processed on November 13 at its closing share prices. This is consistent with the TSP's process for all federal holidays."
Re: Wahoo! Daily Seasonal is rockin’! Don’t call it a comeba
Yes. At Nov 13th's closing prices. However when the % is calculated from Friday the 9th to Tuesday the 13th its the same % as taking Friday the 9th to Monday the 12th then adding Monday the 12th to Tuesday the 13th.
For those not trading, nothing changes in what you have vs what you would have had if TSP had been open. But you cannot make a trade effective on COB Monday, so Monday and Tuesday (before noon) trades went in on Tuesday at Tuesday's closing prices. Locking in the change from Monday and Tuesday.

So within the daily systems (only), was Monday the 12th a trading day?

No. For the purposes of counting trading days on TSPCalc it was not a trading day.Tomanyiron wrote:So within the daily systems (only), was Monday the 12th a trading day?

Of course the ONE DAY I'm in the G Fund the stupid trade war ends and the stock market shoots right up 2%. #BadTiming

What’s the “daily seasonal” mean? I’m following a plan in TSP Calc.... just curious as to the mention of “daily seasonal”
Re: Wahoo! Daily Seasonal is rockin’! Don’t call it a comeba
TSP Calc = Daily seasonal. TSP Calc is a repository of daily seasonal Mixes.
