What is deadline time to move funds for next day's action?

Post by tspwizard1 »

Simple question here but I need to know. On the West Coast PDT what is the time deadline for me to move TSP funds to get the next day's stock action? Does that time also apply for moving back to G fund? For example if I get a bad feeling and retreat to G fund at 7 am on a Monday am I still stuck in others funds for all of Monday, but Tuesday I'm back in G?

Also it's 2018. Why this delay on moving money around. Should happen instantly.

I know these are simple questions for you guys, but I would appreciate some the answers. thanks!

One more thing. Stay in G. Mueller's findings will rock this market (-3% to -5%) any day now.

IFTs need to be in by noon EST to be processed for the next business day.

I think you are confusing the way mutual funds and exchange traded funds are processed. Mutual fund transfers are effective the end of the business day. And it may take an overnight computer sweep in your investment company to post the transacted funds into their new account. Exchange traded funds transact immediately and are available to make further allocations as you desire. Unfortunately the clunky TSP Program uses mutual funds. IMHO TSP should be used as an investment avenue to receive the Agency Match and allocate some of your income to provide funds after you retire. Hope this explains what is going on.

But to answer the question you asked.... Trades need to be in by 9 AM Pacific (You asked about Pacific Daylight but all the states who use Pacific Daylight are currently in Pacific Standard)

So... if you put in a trade to G before 9 AM Pacific, you will still be in whatever fund you started in for the rest of that day. When the market opens the following trading day, you will be in G. If you get a bad feeling about a trade, you can change it or cancel it but it has to be before 9 AM Pacific also.
