So it's politics to point out an action the President did take? He did sign an executive order taking away our raises, and to say that is politics?

Gotcha.

My opinion is he hates overpaid Feds. I get that. Agreed. Nobody in govt should ever make over 120k annually IMO. They truly don't work that hard except for our military. And no one can put a price tag on that. :| :x :!: :(

I used to think feds were overpaid. Then I realized that in reality, we are not overpaid. The private sector is just underpaid, thanks to decades of industry concentration, outsourcing, and anti-union laws.

You have to consider the grand scheme of things. Ill be retired by age 51, and will have a comfortable retirement. I personally dont know many non feds in that position.

My retirement date is 08/21/41, I'll be 57. Hopefully there's a lot of wings and Industrial Arts brews before then.

What's he reason for allowing this now and stopping it then?
The House and Senate received the two thirds vote needed to prevent a Veto. POTUS had to sign the Bill as it would have become law anyway in 10 days if he didn't sign.

Lets make this a beer thread ....

I'm on a German beer kick after visiting a Bavarian restaurant in N.C. having some light beer with what tasted like coke in it and some red bitter drops in the foam. It was awesome and then a great tasting Hefeweizen in a huge glass boot mug. This is my fav so far ..

I didn’t think the veto worked that way. I thought over-riding a veto happened after the veto, not before...

I'll take a cider, please. Angry Orchard, Woodchuck, or a Smith & Forge will do. If you happen to have Hardcore on tap, that's the creme de la creme for me.

Pair it up with a well mixed plate of nachos with all the fixings, and I'm good to go.

Only military, law enforcement and traffic control can do this. It is the same for state positions, so I'm assuming that is your avenue.

You are right that non-feds cannot do that, but then it also depends on your job description.

Best,

Me

If I could start drawing a pension at age 50, I would absolutely do it.

As it is, I will probably retire somewhere close to age 50, and just put my pension on hold.

You are correct in how the process works. What the OP meant was that, with the bill passing by 2/3 in both chambers, a veto would have been meaningless except possibly to make a political point. Usually with that large a passage, a President signs the bill.
