Bull Bear Indicator

Post by cswift01 »

I'm trying to find the most spoken about Bull Bear Market Indicator from Michael Hartnett (BofAML Bull & Bear Indicator). I have scoured the interwebs and couldn't find it anywhere. Is that proprietary information? Does anyone know how to access that info?

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with this indicator, but sometimes I glance at the CNN fear & greed index.

Does it differ much from Tomanyirons' indicator on this site?

Do you find it to accurately predict sentiment? For example, was November 2018 in euphoria?

I love your avatar Is that the one when he bangs his head on the open cupboard door trying to accidentally eat the chocolate cake Marge made? Ask Tommie if his indicator was backflushed.

Haha! Good to see that I'm not the only "Simpson Lover" (preference for Homer and Barney) out there. I don't think any episode still beats when he went to hell and was "tortured" Satan by being forced to eat donuts. He ate so much, that he got kicked out. I think Dante missed a something in his writings. Good stuff. :D

No, but it has been "back-looked" a few years. I don’t have a lot of skills in data mining and backtesting. My talent is visually recognizing shapes/patterns, when laying out a chart. If something jumps out at me, I go back two or three years, see if held water then. If it holds true back to the 08/09 crises, then I say it has good odds. But I think everyone knows we are constantly in flux. And all data sets contain some patterns that are due entirely to chance.

BofAML Bull & Bear indicator is proprietary.

Below is something that is not proprietary I have been looking at. Backtest this someone, if you can?
Percent of Stocks Above 200 Day MA (EOD) NYSE, with the slow stochastic momentum indicator.

Oh hi Tommie did we wake you?

I think you should rename it Tomanyirons Lively Chart of Lovely Colors.

Look who's talking. I was starting to worry that you might have been on that Boeing 737 Max 8.

You wish. I note Boeing immediately reshuffled management so they can declare new watch on deck permitting the people who miswrote that program to fade away. Definitely a management mistake Lockheed would never make.
