S Fund getting crushed
Why is the S Fund getting crushed? Usually when trade tensions are high, people move to small caps to reduce international exposure. Confused as to why the S fund is down twice as much as the C fund today???

Yeah, it follows the Wilshire 4500. This is a better picture of the looming financial downturn in the real America. The Russell 2000 is a good indicator as well. If Powell does not agree to cut rates further, and provide liquidity, these markets are going to drop like rocks.

Glad to be in G right now.

Less international exposure from not doing business in China. But, they still import from China and the last bit of goods Trump just placed tariffs is what most Americans will feel the most.tyler3535 wrote:Why is the S Fund getting crushed? Back to school supplies just got 10% more expensive for example.

hmm... we won't know that until it really happens, right? sorta like predicting a recession?
Re: S Fund getting crushed
The last couple days I came so close to moving what I have in equities to the G. But I didnt want to sell so low, even though my common sense was telling me it’s gonna go even lower. HELLO!!! I had 60% G anyways and figured moving the other 40 would be chasing the market a bit. Who knows. With Trump, it could swing with the drop of a tweet. This was one wild week!!!!

No not like predicting a recession. More like an educated guess based on common business practices.omoade wrote:ArrieS wrote:tyler3535 wrote:Why is the S Fund getting crushed? Companies will start raising prices in anticipation of a cost increase in their products. They don't keep prices the same for the products they are currently selling if they think the cost to order more will be higher. They want to earn as much profit as possible and even if the cost (tariffs) haven't happened, the chance of them happening will cause a price increase to help cover the possibility of higher costs.
It's just like a gas station. The price of the gas you are paying isn't based on the price the station bought it at, but the price the station anticipates it will be when it has to order more.
Well my statement was board about the 10%, there will be some some costs eaten and some passed on, it's generally understood that prices will start to creep up until it either does happen or clearly won't happen.
Consumers will start paying for the tariffs even before they go into place.

At what point would you all jump back in? How low until it looks like a buying opportunity or S or C?
