Inter fund tranfer question

Post by PHettel »

If I make a IFT , I had it 100% F and I divided it up 3 ways e.g. 25%F,25%C, 50%L2030 at one time is this consider 1 IFT or is that 3?
I did this IFT at the end of July, percentages mentioned above and when I tried today to make changes it would not let me make any changes.
I thought I got 2 a month????

I'm a little confused right now :(

It will be 1 IFT. You get 2 a month and a 3rd back to G. But if one of the first 2 are to G, it goes against your total.

Thank you for the quick reply. Very Much appreciated.
When I go back to work tomorrow, I'll check again and see if I'm just having a bad day on our stellar Guberment computers.
Thanks again

possible reasons:
1. user error. it happens to the best of us
2. were you using a non standard web browser or one with restrictive security settings on it?

I didn’t know that. Are you sure? So if my 1st move of the month I move only 10% out of the C to G.
Then my next move of the month I move that 10% back to the C.
I can’t move money back to the G after that??? I was under the impression that after my second move I had unlimited moves as long as I’m only putting money into the G.

#1 It could have been. I'll know tomorrow when I go back to work. I wish this site wasn't block on my work USMC PC.
#2 I was using our work PC and it was Microsoft Edge that came with it. So not sure about security settings. I have made changes last month and didn't have a problem.

How long does it take from selection to when it will appear on my TSP account? (The big Pie picture)

If it's before noon, you should see it the next morning. Otherwise it takes effect end of day the next day.

You are correct. I think he was just simplifying the process.

After your second move (no matter from where and to where), you have unlimited moves back to G. As long as all the moves only result in an increase in G. (until G is 100%).
100% in the daily system since August 2, 2017.

A lot of people don't think an IFT to G counts and then wonder why they don't have any more moves left.

MS Edge is a horrific web browser, so that is a possibility. Also if its a work computer you have NO say as to how its security settings are configured. and that security config could change daily, per the latest pushes from your IT folks.

You can go to the G as many times you want. As long as the other funds stay at their present allocations or lower for a 3rd of 4th allocation. Say you are in the F 25%, C 50%, S 25%. You could go to G 25%, F 15%, C 50%, and S 10%. In this case you are taking from the F 10% and the S 15% to the G and leaving the C. Hope that helps.
