Account Balance Confusion

Account Balance Confusion
So was checking my account balances this morning and looking over things preparing for an IFT and noticed a difference in balance from the opening page where TSP website drops you after you first log in, and when you go to the account summary page where it tells you your vested balance. My Vested balance is higher than my current balance, and I'm not sure why.
Anyone have any insight on why that might be?
I have money in the MFW and then money in a traditional TSP so I just found it kinda odd that the 2 amounts were different....and I think I just figured it out....
Cheers!

Re: Account Balance Confusion
Ok....so the difference is the amount of gain/loss in the MFW that isn't translated over to your overall account balance...
Hmmm...
Interesting!

Re: Account Balance Confusion
Huh...kinda shady and shenanigan-like there. Wonder why they do that?
Thanks for letting us know.

Re: Account Balance Confusion
Maybe cause the balances in the MFW is more fluid than in the TSP? Meaning, they're based more on individual stock valuation within a given mutual fund whereas the TSP funds are more broadly based on the overall market and thus not as fluid...so to speak...IDK....might be grasping at straws there....lol!

Re: Account Balance Confusion
When I spoke with someone at the TSP about the MFW, I was explained that the MFW is actually housed in a different place than our regular TSP. So, while the 2 websites are "somewhat" integrated, I'm sure the software is not. Knowing how terrible Alight did at the transition, I will not hold my breath for anything to make sense anywhere.Chulke wrote: ↑Tue Mar 26, 2024 8:26 amMaybe cause the balances in the MFW is more fluid than in the TSP? Re: Account Balance Confusion
Do you guys know if there is an easier way to get to the MFW instead of the hidden convoluted way?
Re: Account Balance Confusion
I would be happy to know this as well. I played within the TSP.com website, but I'm a bit leery of attempting a work around. Every time I select something that seems a bit different, I get entirely different results...and usually that doesn't mean that things are better. My point is that the website is so bad that I can only imagine using the prescribed method.Snapdragon wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 10:50 am Do you guys know if there is an easier way to get to the MFW instead of the hidden convoluted way?
Re: Account Balance Confusion
Yeah don’t feel bad….i work in IT and have a hard time on the TSP site…it makes me worry about the security sometimes…now obviously it’s probably quite secure, and they probably sink the bulk of their IT budget into security as they should….but the navigation and site layout is convoluted and leaves a bit to be desired. It’s too bubbly to me…I tend to like sites to be a bit blockier and direct and to the point with logical pathways to specific subject matter but TSP to me just seems to run in circles. But I digress! If someone finds a direct link to the MFW please share it!Bubba wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2024 3:41 pmI would be happy to know this as well.
