Contributions during Rally

Post by mrubin78 »

I'm wondering if anyone make contributions to G/F Fund during the rally while the rest are in C/S Fund. For instance, 100% in S Fund but 100% Contribution goes to G Fund. Is this a wise strategy during rally? It's just a thought I had in mind and wanted to hear different opinions. It's something I've been contemplating about this strategy lately and preserving the cash while raking up the profits.

What say ye?

That's exactly what I do. All my contributions go into G. I move elsewhere when I see a good buy opportunity. No reason to buy S at $25 a share right now.

That is a good strategy if you are an active investor and want to keep some "powder dry", so to speak, to buy on dips.

If you do not try to time the market, then continual investing, using the "dollar cost averaging" approach is often recommended.

Remember that a change in contributions today, may not show up for 2-4 weeks.. Where do you plan to be then? If you use all your IFTs each month, then Park it in G and catch it on your next IFT. If you only use 1 IFT every couple of months, then I may concider putting it with my other money. Just a different perspective..
Just because I give you advice, It doesn't mean I know more than you, It just means I've done more stupid stuff.
