AF Civilian RIFs in 2014

Looks like the AF is cutting back on it's civil service workforce again. There's an "up to $25,000" separation pay for voluntary separation, but it's subject to managament's discretion according to MyPers. I couldn't find any info on what the aimpoint for end strength is.

Re: AF Civilian RIFs in 2014
Did they say they were going to reduce the SecAf's office by 20%? Sounds good to me. Just think: more parking spaces at the Pentagon. BTW, when I tried to look at the second post at the end of the article I was warned about a security problem with that web site and shut my browser NOW! Interesting. I believe the Air Force's biggest problem is trying to purchase F-35s that work. There is a big question whether it will be accepted as the NATO strike fighter, and there are Soviet fantasy flights on Youtube depicting Russian aviators shooting down the plane that cannot get out of its own way. Sorry, don't mean to be droning (Sic) along. Interesting the Russians found our Achilles heel in that whole program. Sure you can buy expensive systems, but who is going to launch/recover/maintain/protect them? At some point you have got to draw a line in the sand and say no more people cuts. Otherwise the Visigoths will go right through your flimsy defense. I was hoping not to see that day. Ever.

Put me in, Coach - I'm done! Over, fini, outta here, gimme my 25 and i'm on the road to Texas sooner rather than later.
Re: AF Civilian RIFs in 2014
I've got 16 years in and I'm only 34, so I'm not too worried about my position. I'm thinking that a number of eligible folks will take the money and run, and the AF will let the positions expire for others that are due to retire in the next couple of years.
My biggest worry is if not enough people leave, that they'll start doing non-voluntary RIFs. I'm the only one that can do the job in the Group without making it a full-time additional duty for somebody on AD, but still...

I hope they cut more at the top and less in the field.
Re: AF Civilian RIFs in 2014
The $25k buyout (VSIP) is a joke. It hasn't been adjusted for inflation in 30 years. Unless it's increased or the economy improves substantially the only folks that will take it are the ones that were going to retire anyway.
