This is just a poll. Not looking for a discussion. If you want to hash it out, start a different topic please.

*UPDATE*

You can pick two. So you can vote on your current work and your opinion. I.E. you can select 'I'm out of work because of the shutdown' and 'I agree with the shutdown for funding'.

What about an option for "I'm required to work, but without pay and there's no guarantee that Congress will fund my backpay when they eventually fund the government "

I’m going to throw a grenade into this nursery, but you kids take it outside if you’re going to pull the pin, ok?

I thought they were required to fund backpay by law for the people who are working without pay right now.

No law that we were made aware of, only precedent.

There is a law, The Fair Labor Standards Act.

https://ecf.cofc.uscourts.gov/cgi-bin/s ... 0834-160-0

The United States was sued because of the 2013 shutdown. Under The Fair Labor Standards Act the Government was found to be liable for failing to pay the employees for their labor. The defense argued that the Anti-Deficiency Act prevented the Government from legally paying them at the time. The Court rejected this argument and found the Government at fault and owes damages. One law can't shield the Government from the consequences of willfully breaking another which is what it did we it ordered people to work.

I don't know if this was appealed successfully.

What about furloughed workers?

That's up to Congress to pay or not. No rights to payment for not working. I think it will get harder to justify the longer this shutdown drags on and the bill gets larger.

The way I see it, it’s an opportunity. 2 day work weeks mixed in with ice fishing sounds good to me for a month or so. If I get no pay, great. If I get paid, great, as long as I’m not being charged annual leave.

Sounds like we have a silent majority that supports our president still...(I'm one of them, but also surprised to see the results).

This was painful to read. The title of the poll as well as the options contain poor grammar.

Shocking to me.

Well one thing is clear, the shutdown has limited the post on the forum. People are not logging in to TSP Center as much. That attracts my attention. Are they too depressed to even look at what the market is doing? Conspicuously there has always been less comments doing non work days.

I'm limited on space.

Can't say I'm surprised.
