Figuring High 3 average
I am a ATSS-2101-H. I make more than the highest step for H band. In figuring my high 3 average, is this based on what i am actually making or the highest step in the H band. Also, does anyone know what the highest salary is in the H band.

It's your high three.

For FERS employees, it's your high-3 average salary at the time when you separate from Federal service.
Before you separate you can request an annuity estimate.

Re: Figuring High 3 average
Not sure if anyone answered this completely yet so here goes:
OPM says: "Your “high-3” average pay is the highest average basic pay you earned during any 3 consecutive years of service. These three years are usually your final three years of service, but can be an earlier period, if your basic pay was higher during that period."
Check it out right here at OPM: http://www.opm.gov/retirement-services/ ... ation/#hi3
Plays into my plan perfectly!!! Max out at GS15 Step 10 as fast as possible, then head back down to the GS07-09 range and coast through the rest of my career clearin gutter balls at the post Bowling Alley...
I digress...
To those that follow me - sorry for the lackluster performance this year... took over as CIO for a 2 star command back in early Jan and haven't had much time to track or manage... still a lot of clock on the scoreboard though... here's to a fun investment summer!
Cheers!

Ah, Frank. The innocence of youth.
Fact is, the GS07-09 folk actually earn their checks, generally speaking. It's only when you get to be a 15/10 that you can spend clock time in the bowling alley. That's done by establishing an office in two locations. Then everyone will assume you're at the other office. Which will allow you to put balls into the gutter and let someone else remove them!
Hang in there, and welcome back!
