Give it to me straight.

Post by NoGoodName »

Is there anywhere I can go and have people just say, Buy C and S now, Sell C this week, etc? Everyone on this site posts all sorts of stuff about the stock market which I know nothing about. Where can I get straight advice about when to buy and sell TSP stock without paying 100 bucks a year?

TSP Strategy is a Yahoo group managed by a member from this site, Sarah, that falls in line with what you're looking for. Doesn't necessarily give advice but you can follow the recommendations.

We have several paid advisory services on this site that are fairly priced. They will tell you want moves to make and when to make them.

I know, I know what some members are going to say.......but if you want someone to tell you want to do and when to do it, that is what they do.

See TSP Evolution's tab at the top of the page.

I'd go with the seasonal strategy its simple and you only have to move your money 6 times a year as opposed to 20+ tims a year using both of your IFT's per month.

As Jah and sludg mentioned. I compare Evolution (start on 9/23/09) to Seasonal. For almost 30 months
Evolution is leading with 51.20%
Seasonal with 40.77%.
F 16.29%
C 38.56%
S 47.98%
I 7.48%
Both are good, but personally I with Jah that the money to pay for advisory services is worth it for additonal 10% gain and learn how they come up with the move.

Skie: As the bond market is bearish following several decades of growth, what do you recommend for the months of January and June-October where the Seasonal Strategy suggests the F fund?

G fund?

Thanks.

Yes G or if momentum is in favor with stocks I'd stay in stocks.

But blindly, I'd say G because F is getting destroyed by all this Fed intervention.

The F Fund is performing exactly as it should. It went up in value as the Fed interest rate went down. Now that the Fed has moved on (and interest rates could not go anywhere but up), the F Fund should continue to drop in value for a long time. Not being much of an economist I cannot predict how high interest rates will go but I do remember when they hit 18%. So this is where the Seasonal Strategy gets bound up in its own composition. It was devised at a time when the long term value of the F Fund continued to grow because of lowered interest rates and not for some fundamental reason. This is not to say I do not admire the efforts of king and his fellow employees for devising it, but, like the B-52s flying in single line formation making the same right turn st the same exact spot over Hanoi at the same time everyday (thus making them sitting ducks for SAAM missile attacks) ended up one day with the pilots refusing to fly, so too is it time to determine whether the Seasonal Strategy should still fly in its present configuration or be altered.

If you liked this post I could use some Reputation Points as it's been a long long time since I got some and I doubt I'll ever get a trophy. In fact, the last points I got were negative from a member who departed.

In our advisory we provide a monthly newsletter that will provide the instructions that you are seeking. Additionally we have not had a buy/sell trigger in well over 12 months so you will not be jumping in and out of the market.

I suggest you give a read.
