I love your posts Sarah. They make me laugh so hard sometimes! I try to guess ahead of time what angle you will take but am always pleasantly surprised when you go off into some other parallel universe. It is so fascinating to observe!

I think we may find every organization has grown top-heavy. I know mine has, we have had many positions unfilled and as others leave in my group they haven’t been filled as well. I know every management position has 100% occupation.

Sarah,

Bye!? No one is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to read any post, or even stay.

At least until you are in charge we will remain a country that is free to think and do as we please. I know you think people are too stupid to have such responsibilities, but some of us like it that way.

And no I haven't been abducted by aliens and had my mind erased and reprogrammed..........

Thanks Big Mike. If J keeps posting polls that equate to, "When did the Federal government begin beating your wife?" we should respond in kind.

Merry Christmas Sarah! Try to get some rest tonight, I think you may be visited by three ghosts sometime before morning.....................

Just kidding, you know we all love you! :P

Js posts are the best! Someone should be trying to get top the bottom of some of this stuff. At least he comes at it from a common sense point of view and not some left field reality.

I have seen poor decision making by management contribute to waste in my organization. It is the government thing of dig a hole here now and then the next day of fill that hole and dig a new one over there. We were a couple of feet off on the location of the needed hole.

Then, repeat the process forever never learning from past mistakes or taking any punishment from the bad decision making until the person retires. Here is to hoping that the positions will be filled with better decision makers in the future.

Thanks to you all for your contributions to better decision making with TSP and in your organizations.

Tractor, your right on the, “No punishment for the bad decisions". I've seen it so often. Just thinking about what could have been done with the wasted money, makes me sick. Everyone sees it, we all talk about it, but as a government, you can't find anyone in charge determined to fix the problem. We are a rich nation, but we are on a fast track to becoming poor, if we don't get serious about fixing our problems.

We've had one person in our department who's performance is being 'evaluated' and has been barred from performing his duties during this review. Basically he comes to work and sits around doing nothing all day. This has been going on for six months because nobody in the administration is willing to flat out fire him because they dont want to deal with the Union backlash and a potential lawsuit. He continues to get paid, and in 6 months that has been a waste of over six figures for the taxpayers, not including benefits.
