With the Barry, Ben, Timmy trio certainly possible!
Re: Will it last?
Did you see Ol Ben''s testimony yesterday?!
He calmly stated that currently 35% of all U.S. money market cash is invested in Europe, and no one in Congress even blinked.
It was like "Move along people, there is no moral hazard here....nothing to see.....". They really have no clue.
The banks now know they can buy PIIGS bonds that pay very high yields, pocket the cash, and tell old folks that the money in their money market accounts is safe. They know that if this goes bad the government feeling the outrage from people losing their safe investment will demand a government bailout. The banks will blush, sheepishly shrug their shoulders and squirm a little as the political leader screams about being lied to by the crooked bankers. The banks will then stuff a large amount of cash in their re-election funds and the issue goes unresolved.........and nothing really changes.
