Should you be buying the dip, or taking profits?

Should you be buying the dip, or taking profits?
Buy the dip
Taking profits
Taking profits
Re: Should you be buying the dip, or taking profits?
The thing I struggle with the most is understanding jargon. What does "buy the dip" mean? Does that mean to put your entire TSP balance in high risk stocks after today's dip via interfund transfer? And what was "take profits" mean? Does that mean to keep everything in low risk bonds? Is the poll concerning TSP people only or for those in the market generally?
Re: Should you be buying the dip, or taking profits?
Should have taken profits in the 1400s, if you havent yet then its a tough decision. I dont see any real support until 1370, below that we could easily drop to 1340. I plan being 50-60% in at 1370.

Is chop off your arm so you can't buy in a choice.... :/
Re: Should you be buying the dip, or taking profits?
The poll question should be: How low does the S&P go before you buy into S and C-- 1370, 1340, 1310, 1280 or 1200. I'm assuming that most people are heavily invested in G or F since late March anyway. If not then I feel your pain, honest injun. lol.

I believe this is going to be a dip and I will buy into it today. I'm moving 100% to the S fund.

Just a beginner here but I set my buy points at S&P 1325 and Willshire 675. I do not think this downturn is going to be deep and we may not even see my buy in level.
Re: Should you be buying the dip, or taking profits?
Neither: as it will only bounce 1-2% and decline again from 3/26/12 high to total 6.5% until the end of April: ~S fund: 680. C fund: 1324.

Im not quite following here. You think there will be a 6.5% correction by the end of April?
So I assume you have already sold and are in bonds right now?
Re: Should you be buying the dip, or taking profits?
I am in the F fund.

Re: Should you be buying the dip, or taking profits?
That is some solid selling on solid volume today.

Yep, hopefully we close above 1365 and with some upward movement at the end of the day or Ill be second guessing my decision to go in today.
