Re: What Type Of TSP Investor Are You?
My category is not completely there: Retired military, then a contractor for several years, and now a current federal employee.
Re: What Type Of TSP Investor Are You?
Neither is mine... Prior Military (8 year AF veteran), Then Contractor (1 year with Army), Current Federal Employee (2 years with Army), but I selected current fed employee.

34 years of federal service....a bottom feeder federal employee, scum of the earth...let's get rid of us cheaples and spend some $$$...
Re: What Type Of TSP Investor Are You?
Active duty military.
6 years Marines (prior)
21 years Coast Guard (current)
Three more years and I'm telling "The Man" >>> I QUIT!! Actually I have no choice in the matter. Mandatory 30-year retirement for Chief Warrant Officers.
Seems kinda ignorant for the Coast Guard to force high-performing Warrant Officers (wait... who said I was high performing) to retire at 30 years (at the age of 48) when the Army, and I think the Navy, has created a CW05 rank and extended the pay scale to 40 years. Coast Guard says, "Not happening."
I frankly think the CG tosses you at 30 years because a CW04 costs a great deal more money than a CWO2. However, I wouldn't care if we (USCG) never created a W5 rank if we were at least given the option to go the full 40 years AS A WARRANT OFFICER. We keep 0-10's and E9's that long...but not W4's...the technical EXPERTS in their chosen fields??
I'd do 40 years in a heartbeat. Top out the pay scale at 30 years (no longevity raises) and the only pay raise you get beyond that mark is whatever menial percentage Congress authorizes on a year-to-year basis...just give me the OPTION of remaining on active duty.
100% payback on a 40-year career (probably $70k-$80K per year); totally retired at the age of 58-60 (again...on $70K-$80K per year); medical benefits for life...SIGN ME UP!!

Re: What Type Of TSP Investor Are You?
In this market, a question more in line with "What type of gambler are you?" seems more appropriate.
