So Navig8tor continues to rack up impressive gains
in November. But what does this tell us about Professional returns ytd? Is ebb still over 9% and has BBBInvest really achieved a 13% return? Should we all be paying less attention to ebb and more to BBB? Are these true rates of return?

Questioning the validity of posted gains on this reputable site?
Good job!

Subtly with a touch of sarcasm. .
Re: So Navig8tor continues to rack up impressive gains
Just look at the one year returns if you have any doubts about the professionals current returns. That will give you an idea of what they are doing over the last 12 months.

It's impossible to have those gains posted (40 plus % gains in just one day?). It's gotta be a mistake!

Yen's are just mad because I'm racking up a 50% return this year...bulead dat!!
It's being addressed. I contacted Skie; he contacted King. It'll get fixed eventually.
Now.. just stop talking about it, pretend you don't see it and let me have my time in the sun. I think I'm actually stealing "watchers" from Sig and other perpetual leaders

With this sideways market action, you are the most interesting thing to talk about now.
It's either that or sit and watch that two hour video skie posted.

Thanks tom! With all this sideways action, I've been doing a ton of pondering on monetary and fiscal policy as of late. Every so often, I'll put on my thinking cap and scare the daylights out of my political friends. As an engineer, I find that humans tend to lay waste my most thought out plans. Damn irrationals and freedom lovers.
Then again, there's a reason why socialism never works and will never work. Human greed and laziness.

And there are reasons capitalism is muzzled by legislation. skie, in your plans, have you factored in the fact this is an option expiration week during which share prices move in irrational non-engineer fashion?

Re: So Navig8tor continues to rack up impressive gains
cron,
When it comes to index funds I generally take the efficient market hypothesis approach which basically means I assume price of the indexes reflect whatever nuances occur in terms of derivatives and the sort. As it stands, the market is currently pricing in bearish undertones due to whatever reason.
Even in terms of single stocks I take the stance that market participants price in option expiration week, etc.
I will note that I don't blindly follow the efficient market hypothesis since Warren Buffet and band have shown that the markets can misprice securities. I just think that when it comes to indexes the error rate of the efficient market hypothesis lessens.
For instance, KO has long been a strong company. Whenever the general indexes tank, this usually depresses stock prices of good companies (such as KO) thus making the market inefficient at pricing the actual worth of the company. Of course the market, IMO, translates the price at which supply/demand will sell/buy and not the actual worth of the company (which is in of itself fairly priced based on arbitrarily, calculated measures).
