Ramblings and Musings
*Man, I just love this economy right now. Wendy's Bacon Cheeseburgers for .99 cents, free KFC chicken meals with internet print and cut coupons, $4.00 polo shirts, a three year old two bedroom condo for 40k (cash only please), street vendors hawking Mother's Day rose bouquets for a buck fifty. day. I'll take a dozen. Roses? No, bouquets. Flowers make mama happy and when mama is happy, everyone is happy. I'll tell ya, deflation is grand. I can't spend the money fast enough. If only the economy can continue to spiral down I figure that within a month or so I can get a lender to pay me interest to borrow money. Who knows, maybe GM (that's Government Motors now, isn't it???) will give me money to buy a car. I wonder if my co-workers would be offended if the vehicle sported a bumper sticker that reads, "I love my country but fear my Government".
* Might as well sell Chrysler to China. They have owned the Chrysler building for about two years now so its only fair to let them get the namesake company.
*GM will be closing about five plants for the entire summer. The laid-off workers will still receive 80% of their salary courtesy of your tax paying dollars. In our business we call that a furlough, don't we??? No wait! We don't get paid not to work. However I'm more than willing to stay home and not work for pay if Mr. Obama figures that will stimulate the economy. Just wanna do my part!!!!.
*Does anyone know if Mr. Obama graduated magna-cum-laude from the Robert Mondovi school of economics???
* Cultural diversity has reached an all time high when the government won't use the phrase , "swine flu". We certainly don't want porky-pig filing a hostile work environment discrimination complaint. And Ms. Piggy???? Kermit would never hear the end of it. Heck. I almost found myself asking for an order of HN-2 instead of bacon at I-Hop the other day (being politically correct and all).
Gotta go!! There's a speck of dust on the far horizon headed this way that looks interesting. Someone rumored that it might be the four horsemen of the Obamalypse; Socialism, Hyper-Inflation, Massive Unemployment and Excessive Debt.
Ciao- Be civil. After all you are a servant.

Enough already JeffVan1. If we wanted to read this kind of crap, we could go to Rush Limbaugh's web page. Try to limit your comments to TSP investing. Those of us who supported, voted for, and rejoiced in the President's election are pleased to see that the market has showed a recent rally as economic policies are in transition to a new direction. The thing that makes the USA the best country in the world is its constitutional democratically-elected government, and those who claim to hate (or "fear") the US Government, and want its duly and unambiguously elected President to fail, are unpatriotic traitors.
I appreciate your insights into the market, but not your politics. Please find somewhere else to post your anti-goverment bullet points. Many thanks.

O.K. I get the message. If you don't mind would you please instruct TSPking to change the name of the Forum from ANYTHING GOES to "ANYTHING THAT JAYJ APPROVES OF GOES". And congratulations on your recent appoint to site moderator.
Its kinda funny. When I posted the message I somewhat suspected that someone would accuse me of being a traitor. The thing that makes our country so great is not our government but rather the cornerstone of what makes any great democracy. That is, the right to think what you want and say what you think. You need to look no further than the 1st Amendment of the U.S. Constitution to find that noble principle. So J., at the end of the day who becomes the traitor. That person who excersies their right to criticise the government, or the person who seeks to deprive others of that right???

Jeffvan1,
You seem to have some misinformation. I have no power or desire to instruct TSPKing to do anything. I have not been appointed to be the site moderator.
I implied that Rush Limbaugh is an unpatriotic traitor, because he has advocated for the failure of our elected President and our government. I did not accuse you specifically of anything; I do not know anything about you, except what you post on here. I don't remember you ever posting that you want the President or the rest of the U.S. government to fail.
I agree that you and I each have the right to say what we think, including to criticize each other and the government. It appears that your ability to post on this site has not been significantly abridged, as you are the #2 poster, after TSPKing. I do not seek your removal from this site; far from it, I value your opinions on TSP and investing generally.
I disagree with you, however, when you say that the government is not what makes this country different. Every country has people (good and bad), natural resources (more or less), and many have constitutions. But few have a government that is stable and responsive to its people. It is the primary role of our federal government to guarantee to all of the people the rights enumerated in the Bill of Rights. Without the government to defend these principles, they would be mere ink on a parchment. Without the government, a Darwinian situation would emerge where the wealthy and powerful would run roughshod over the all the rest.
All that said, I concede that you may well be right that the forum name "anything goes" may mean it is for topics other than investing, in which case I just won't read that particular forum anymore. Your post however appeared on the Home page this morning, and I can be cranky early on a Monday morning. Peace.

No Offense Taken
nuff said......
Well, not really..... I wonder if I can get a flight to California on AirForce One. A photo-op type of trip maybe.. I'll volunteer to throw the leaflets out the cargo bay to the public down below assuring them everyting is safe.
Thx Ranger Dave. I figured a little side-bar humor every now and then would be entertaining. This market certainly isn't.

re: don't quit your day job
Have to in 18 months. Mandatory retirement. So I shouldn't try out a second career as a comedian.

re: don't quit
Start a brokerage account. Mine now exceeds my TSP account. If you do your homework, when you retire (sic) you would have the knowledge and expertise to roll your TSP account into a rollover brokerage account and make money with that as well. Done right, your annual withdrawals would always go up, and you would have more money in the account than you withdrew. That is what I intend to do when I retire (sic) for the second time.
