The up escalator

Shares clung to a tight trading range last week ahead of Friday's witching session. This "up and tight" behavior is viewed positively, and implies a lack of real selling pressure.

Technically, the market is in good shape overall. Breadth and volume have both increased lately. Small-capitalization and financial titles outperform. These will usually top in advance of the averages. Gold and silver are strong.

Large investors are content to sit with positions despite the advance of recent weeks. Consolidations in the averages and most growth-stock glamours are orderly. At this stage of the move, few issues approach buy points. It would not be the worst thing in the world, then, for a pullback to provide some additional opportunities for the intermediate-term speculator . . . . To continue reading, please click here.

With housing data consistently improving along with expectations of increased manufacturing jobs...I wonder if another decent rally is upon us.
