Yes, it is up 0.5%. Has it gained that much in a day before?

Yes...it was up 0.5% on June 3rd. I'm certain the F-fund has seen larger up days in the past.....
Re: Glad to be in "F"
It has, but not very often. About as often as the S and C funds get 2+% positive days - which is to say not very often, but more often than normal in this volatile year.

Re: Glad to be in "F"
Glad it's only my game money on the table. I'm going to use this as a buying opportunity in my real account. Sitting safely in the G, waiting on a bottom.
In the game: Down to -13% at one point early this year, all the way back up to +5% a couple weeks ago, and who knows where this one will stop.

100% F... Wull huuu! 225k in there... at half a percent... what is that... 12k for the day? Is that how that works? Maybe I'm wrong...

Not quite. $225,000 * .005 = $1,125 but it sure beats losing 3.59% ($8,077) if you were all in the C fund.

You all didn't "LOSE" anything but a number on paper....unless you cashed out on a huge down day...and plenty of folks did just that.

Re: Glad to be in "F"
Because of a big day Friday, not yet posted on this web site, Monday should be a giveback day. Never count your coins sitting in the F Fund.

Your account is worth what it's worth, regardless of the fund it's in. The folks with their money in funds that declined absolutely lost money, regardless of whether they moved to G, took a cash distribution or left the money alone after the decline. The value of one's account changes nightly with the publishing of the new share prices and your account's value always = # of shares owned x published share price of that or those funds.
If Monday is another big loser day for equities as I believe it will be, expect more "flight to safety" gains for bonds and other risk off investments.

S&P and Dow futures indicate it may be another tough day for the stocks. S&P down 15 and Dow 113 at approx 7:45.

Dead cat bounce Monday. How high will it flop?

Re: Glad to be in "F"
I've decided to see if the S&P will pass below 2000, which will be difficult to breach because it will serve as a support level. Things will probably be volatile the next week or two. A lot of the direction will be determined by news coming out of central banks and Europe. It could go either way, but one more negative surprise may be too much for the market and send it lower. The biggest challenge facing US markets will be second quarter earnings. If we have another disappointing quarter it will be the final catalyst. What makes this such perilous times is the Fed doesn't have many bullets left to alleviate the markets due to rates being at near 0 for so long.
