FIDELITY PERSONAL ADVISORS
In addition to my current TSP, I have Fidelity with it's Personal Advisory Service... I pay a percentage per quarter for the service based on balance.
I kept asking them why they chose so much weighting in the financial sector considering I'm 'moderately' aggressive on investing.... when we see the financial sector tanking and having so many problems.
They said, we're actually BUYING MORE!!
UGH

Which may mean that their buying more for Fidelity Investors. Ask your financial investor to put his money where his mouth is and show you how many shares he holds in the financial sector. (It's in Fidelity's best interest to keep the investment banks solvent, even if it comes at investor expense).

I still have some Fidelity accounts. And when I analyzed the contents of each of their funds I was surprised at the amount of overlap in them. Not only that, if you look at the Freedom Funds they consist mainly of Fidelity developed funds! Hello? Some of the sector funds appear interesting but you have to watch how long the holding time is. A lot can happen in 60 or 90 days. I would agree with JeffVan that they are trying to sell certain "Fidelity Enhancing" products to their small investors.
So much for Fidelity. I did meet someone today whose wife works for a bank. They are heavily invested in that bank, and convinced the stock will make a huge comeback. I wish them luck and a lot of patience. It's rare to see the conviction that man had about the future of that bank. About half what I had in John Thain resurrecting Merrill.....
Manhattan, as Obie Won Kenobe said to Luke in Episode 4, "use the force." And this web site is part of that force many more times than that Fidelity advisor. I am planning to transfer my Fidelity accounts to another financial institution. Good luck.

Re: FIDELITY PERSONAL ADVISORS
Have you thought about having a fee-only financial advisor? You can pay as little as $200 or $300 per year for the advice, but you do the investing yourself -- quite easy with discount brokers like Fidelity and Schwab. This way there is no financial incentive to steer you to particular mutual funds since they are independent.
