IFT question

Post by jpinvestor »

I put in an ift request on april 15 after 1215. Pending transfers showed it would be end of trading day april 16th. This morning pending trasfers showed it to change april 17th. If Im after 1215 deadline does it take 2 days for the ift request. Sorry for the silly question Im a new at this. Thanks.

It's not a silly question. It brings up an ongoing problem with this site. About every 10 days the dastardly computer program fails to run the nightly IFTs. The fix depends upon the availability of one person so there are times when it can take several days to process the backed up IFTs. And those IFTs are processed as of that date and not the date the IFT was submitted. For those people who IFTd into the active Funds yesterday this non-processing of the IFT means they were saved from a heavy loss and they will now be thought of as brilliant Gamers who know when to get into the bottom of the market. It also means that those Gamers who tried to get out of the active Funds were stuck in them for this steep drop in the market. And because the real TSP computers processed yesterday's IFTs it means the Fantasy Game Account Balance will never equal the Account Balance of their real TSP Account. Talk about a Fantasy......

I put in an IFT back towards the last few days of December when I could have locked in a good gain and started off the year even...instead of in the hole. The IFT was NEVER completed. As a result, I started the year in a 1.5% hole and had to battle back to get out. Changed my entire investing scheme for January and February. I contacted the site administrators twice, yet it was never corrected.

If you missed the 1215 deadline, MAYBE it'll go through upon the nightly update the next night. If it didn't go through the second night - it ain't going to go through. And as Cro said, if it does, you're still going to get dorked with inaccurate numbers. If you can't get any corrective maintenance action out of the site administrators, I'll tell you now: I feel your pain.

The maintenance of this site is (has been) really going downhill; although, it's no fault of Skiehawk11. The site owner, KING, who I DONATE five of my hard earned dollars to every month, needs to step up and make some improvements before folks start bailing.

I don't even know why I paid for the recurring TSPCenter subscription service several months ago. I see no access to anything above and beyond that which is free. In fact, I don't think my "subscription" service is even activated. It's been 3-4 months since I registered and I see nothing that everyone else can't see. I don't mind helping keep the site running; however, if I'm not getting anything from a paid subscription service here shortly, I'm going to stop the funding.

Sorry to hijack your thread...had to get that out.

Hey thank you guys for answering my question. As I see it this is a tsp fantasy game and although I would have liked to not lost the money by not being taken out, at least it wasn't in my real tsp account. Im just happy to hear from caring poeple who take their time and answer questions for beginners just learning how to play the market. I've got a lot to learn but thanks to reading your posts and watching your moves I will get better. Thanks again!!!!

They should give us a few more minutes to report changes here. A lot of times I will make real changes to my TSP right before the 1200 cutoff (during my lunch break), then it's too late to duplicate my changes accurately here in a timely manner on this website. Changes to my real TSP come first and take priority over what I do here.

Much to my chagrin, they do. I argued this site should be managed the same as the TSP site but was overruled. Is 15 minutes extra enough?
