Ouch

Post by mjedlin66 »

2.25% in one day hurts. I don't even want to think of that in real dollars. But this is just one day, it could reverse tomorrow, next week, or next month. Hold the line!

I agree, hold on for the time being.

I hope soon, after all the fall out in Washington, DC, the President will talk about how to promote business once again.

My 2016 YTD is 11.20% gain. The highest individual fund 2016 YTD is 3.17%.

Some of it is luck, I'm sure. But the biggest difference between last year and this year is that last December I sat down and laid out my entire strategy for 2016. I decided to take emotion and day trading out of it. I picked a strategy and implemented it January 1st. I have done well.

I'm not a stock expert, but I highly recommend that you pick a strategy and stick with it. Re-evaluate once a month at the most. Quarterly, semi-annually, or in my case, an annual strategy evaluation is all you really need. It doesn't matter if you choose a technical strategy or a seasonal strategy. Most of these strategies beat the individual funds most of the time, so pick one and stick with it, even when you lose money. Then relax, don't worry, and have a home brew.

Throughout 2015 I was the opposite, switching from one strategy to another constantly and also throwing in a bit of daily guessing and emotion. I didn't do very well.

I have strayed from my strategy once this year, in January, by about 5 days. It bit me a little bit. I have learned my lesson- stick to the plan, man.

Stick to the plan, man. You'll be fine.

Haha, I appreciate the effort to look up my past post and quote it to me.

Did you notice Tomanyiron IFT'd into the F Fund the other day? +0.22% for the day.

I am staying put in the S fund. The market has shown it's hand. It will go there again.

Gclapper seasonal mix says nothing about leaving the C fund until the last trading day in March. Here I sit.

That's my opinion as well. Also, the S Fund tends to work in tandem with the C Fund (even if its much more volatile). Anyway, we'll see. For the moment its sphincter tight!
