Trump/Holiday Rally Road Block?

Post by MakeMe$$$$ »

Who knows...

The stock market has enjoyed a great run since the election of Donald Trump. But experts are wondering if the Trump bump may have eaten into some of Wall Street's potential gains for 2017.

This rally is not going to stop anytime soon. This is the first true Bull market we have had in years. I cannot find any real signs of sell off. All I see is investors ready to jump on board. Don’t miss the Trump train!

I think there will be a small sell off at the first off the year. to many folks are asking the same question as you and are going to take covers. Once they see things remain bullish, they will jump back in. My prediction is Dow will be at 22,000 by the end of 2017. Either stay with the s or c fund and take the loss before reaping the big gains, or do what everyone advises not to do and try and time the market. I think I am going to move to the G fund for the month of January and maybe feb. then going all back to s for the remainder of 2017. but my plans could change as time moves along

plans could change, as in looking to time the market? Just curious about what you mean. I'll be sticking with Boltman's Mix which seems to reap the best returns over the years.

I haven't been around here long. but the first thing I have learned was NOT to try and time the market. But, I think from my long and many hrs of research that there will be a market correction of 3-8% in the near future. When? its anyones guess. But my guess will be jan - feb. With that, The G fund is the safest place to be. After that, I think there will be a big run to well over 20,000 for the dow. No one knows what trump is going to do. I think the market is excited about deregulation, tax reform with big tax cuts, trillion dollar infrastructure spending and so on. I think the market is worried about inflation which will be counter acted with sooner then expected increase interest rates. The terriff tax that he plans to hit companies over seas with will also cause inflation. But again, its anyones guess at this point. Just have to wait and see which direction if any that trump will take. The biggest concern with the stock market is the increased turmoil in the world as a whole. We are already seeing headlines about ARMS race with Russia. China is moving some heavy artillery into the south china see. There is a big increase in chances with a trade war. N. korea is expected to have a cruise missile that will be capable of hitting the United states within a year. The you have the story that's just made headlines over the UN and Israel. So yea, my plans could very easily change depending on the above circumstances and this is just a very small portion that could affect the market. I'm trying not to bore you to death with great details. You can do what you want. But I'm feeling like a small correction in the stock market at the first of the year followed by a strong bull market. But if a trade war breaks out, inflation goes to high to fast, or a all out war starts, the market will crash harder then it did in 2008.

Re: Trump/Holiday Rally Road Block? --- THE I FUND

Post by gordon1023 »

I am relatively new to this site but enjoy the information exchange and collaboration. Thank you to many of you. Even with the occasional errors; this a very worthwhile site to learn and exchange thoughts. Having said this, I have noticed, as mentioned above, the concern about international issues, which seems to be a daily occurrence. Is the outlook that grim to be in the I Fund? Yes, it is risky but at the same time, there appears to be a great opportunity. I still have some about 8 years to go and my thinking says that 8 years from now the I Fund return should be something more positive than the current $24 trading range. Any thoughts about the long-term I Fund?
