Non-political influences in the stock market?

A very interesting look at the perfect storm that has recently happened:

I'm sure politics does influence the equation, however, this might also be quite potent.

It certainly could still be politics in a sense. Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the run up on the market based on Trump's election and campaign promises create an options situation like this?

Also, I think it could be a bit compounded by current issues that are distracting the administration on tax reform. It is my understanding that much of the post election gains were based on the hopes of major tax changes in favor of corporations. That have been many comments on how delays in working this issue could have a significant impact at some point.

Good point. It would seem that options are a major part of what happened recently. I also think that there is a major fear that bank reform might not be happening driving bank stocks down (buyer's opportunity here!).

On the other hand, the economy was going so well even before the election that I think there is a major momentum that has been snowballing into this direction as well.

I could be wrong, but thanks for your insight.

Best,
